long time ago since my last post...i have some problems and perhaps you can help me again. I search for a LH and RH rear steel fender for my PickUp, in good condition, new or used - does anybody an idea where to get for an acceptable price?? Would be nice to get some information from you .... perhaps somebody has such fenders and donīt need them anymore. Thanks a lot to @ |

Aren't the fenders the same from all AD trucks? I think the shipping will kill you. It's a large bulky item. What's your price range? Are your rear fenders beyond repair?

none of the big suppliers of parts will ship Greyhound. The cheapest quote I got was $125 for each fender. Most of these guys want $350 for each fender plus shipping. Thats a grand for two fenders. I would rather buy a parts truck for $1000 and fix the fenders on that

mine wasn't much better in fact probably worse since it came from oregon. i wouldn't stress about it. it was the funniest part of my build. I'm no pro but there is something about a sunny day a grinder, welder and new sheet metal...without any real training i replaced all the same panels you need and more.... just take it one panel at a time.

Look through my build thread I have replaced about every panel that you will need to replace. Like mylow53 said, with no training I have done it all too. I have more pictures if you need anything let me know and I will post them for you.

I have a pair of rear fenders off my 50 in decent shape. not perfect but easily repairable. I went with wider fiberglass ones. shipping may be a pain but let me know if you are interested.

Just a thought. On another message board a guy in Europe had an Olds he was needing parts for, hood, fenders, seat frames. He had another member collect the parts on the east coast, found someone else that was shipping a complete car to Europe and stuffed his stuff in the container for a small fee. You might check with freight forwarders to see if they work to bundle short loads into container size loads. I also once shipped an engine in the trunk of another car that was being shipped cross country, guy was glad to get some cash to offset his shipping costs.

The good news is that all of the places that show significant rust are all places that patch panels are made for. Don't apologize about your English, it is much better than our German. Also you make alot more sense in your posts than some of the other guys I have seen on here.
I am sure that classic american cars are fairly rare in Europe, but you would think that there are enough that someone would open up a classic american auto parts supply company in certain parts of the continent. Shouldn't be too hard to field orders from other countries since you all use the euro. Just a business idea I would be thinking about if I lived over there. |

Hi to @ again...
this week i have had a conversation with the man of the body shop. After he told me what it will be going to cost to repair all the sheetmetal damages iīve decided to bought new doors, new rear fenders, new tailgate, and new bedsides...because with all the necessary work to do this is the cheaper way in the end. Iīve done the order at classicparts...hope the parts will arrive in good / excellent condition here in (cold ...brrrrr...) germany ;-) The bodywork on the cab is nearly done...next work would be customize and attach the front crossmember/radiator support. I will going to take pictures again, when the parts have arrived..... Man, this project gets much more expensive than i expected.....i should have an sponsor (!!!!!) ......bounties will be gladly accepted Some nice greetings again from Backnang (near Stuttgart) / germany -Robin- |

Today i have again a question where i need your : Does anybody know the exact dimensions of the bed-wood-planks? Remember that the truck is a 1954 build one....i think it has 8 or 9 planks. (???) Perhaps anybody have a sketch or can draw fastly one with the correct measurements (L / W / H and size of the channel for the bed-strips). Have you do/got a underbody coating on your beds? Greetings, Robin PS: Today i get the shipping quote for the ordered parts (2 doors, 2 fenders, tailgate, bed sides, 2 repair-panels): ~US $1665 !!!!! Today i have some good and some bad news: Good news: doors, rear fenders, bedsides, tailgate and repair panels for the front fenders arrived here in germany last week... Bad news: I have to stop the restauration for an indefinite time because of the world economic crisis. I work for the automotive industry and the orders brake down about 50% the last two months ...so at the moment we have to work short hours, so i canīt spend money for the truck at this time Would be a good thing to find some sponsors...but that dream i think wouldnīt become true So thatīs all for the moment - i will keep you up to date, Greetings, Robin |

Another '54 on hold. My brother, mom and I all have '54 in various stages of re-build. All 3 are on hold as we are all saving for "the end of the world", lol. Anyone else feel the U.S. is in for another civil war?

havenīt good news...restauration is still on hold because of the bad employment situation / financial condition....it spiral downwards day by day At the moment iīm looking for some -sponsors...but havenīt find help until now...people donīt like to donate in such an financial situation Yesterday i create a donate-button over PayPal, but after a few minutes i have to close it because of security problems (hackers would be able to disuse my acount) So i have the same situation like a few weeks ago.....now at first i have to solicit orders - or searching a new job. Sorry to hear the economy in Europe is taking a hit too. I feel your pain, as a business owner I have went from 9 to 2 staff in 18 months. But in the last two weeks I have picked up 5 new restaurant projects, 2 now 3 in June and a small 5,600 SF house to design. My 59 is suffering the cash flow blues too and I'm running out of no cost things to do on it. But I think things are starting to pick up, at least in my part of the world.
