I really love these unique trucks...so...anyone have a photo of a 67k30napco with clearance lights and a pto winch? A boy can dream...
Sorry, can't fulfill your dream, but can come dang close. A plow rather than winch. My dream truck too! Picture a snow in the valley,me and my dog casually making our rounds to clear a select few long lanes for neighbors to make a few bucks. Then, spring rolls around and we roll into the antique truck shows I attend with a rare and unusual little work horse.

Futuristic super dooper ultra hi-tek snowshoes? I forget, but I guess I clung to the side of the truck and stepped in the tracks and around the tires, then traced back in the tracks far enough and walked around where it would be out of the picture? Good eye! (I was alone I do remember that)

Thanks Special K
I like the color too.
I think I'm gonna keep my eyes peeled for a 67 clearance light cab and the other pieces and build the dream... As soon as I'm done with my other couple dreams that is...
Cheers

Nim, The 67 cabs were the same with or without the marker lights. They did not have the raised pads of the later trucks.

Re: Unusual/non-conventional/odd/COPO Trucks

Tim- thanks for the link.
Funny... Some things I learn are new and others I relearn.
My 67 1 ton napco just got a hair easier to reproduce (in case such an animal proves too hard to find when the search begins)

Yep love that brush truck thread too!
Cheers!

I like those 8 hole wheels on it. I remember when it was on Ebay in CO and we watched Bruce buy it and haul it home. I wonder what he's up to now?

Special-K, that truck with the 9" step bed your buddy was restoring sounds like a 1 ton Longhorn Napco. I've GOT to find a 67-72 Napco now. I'll never get even one truck finished at this rate.

Tim, he didn't haul it home... We drove out there in a cavalier, gave it away when we got there, and jumped in this thing and drove it back to minnesota! On the original tires even. That 292, 4 speed and 5:13 gears was tough. I think we hit 54 mph downhill once. What an adventure!
Bruce is doing well. Still OTR trucking and family man. (3 kids) We still get together for hunting and a few other times every year.

Re: Unusual/non-conventional/odd/COPO Trucks

My Grandpa has a 69' LWB 2wd that he bought from the original owner who ordered it new in 69'. the original owner ordered the truck in Burnish Bronze (only el camino, camaro, and i think chevelle color, it show on the SPID) it has the 396 big block. now the story on the big block is the 1st owner worked for Pontiac at the time and had friends that worked at GM. his friend was able to get the camaro 396 BB. we have narrowed it down to the 325 HP or the 350HP BBC. we would have to look at the cam specs to find out. I'm sure im missing things but today it has around 50,000 original miles. It was wrecked by the 1st owners son and that's when my grandpa bought it to fix it the way it was when it rolled off the assembly line.

That's a good one. I believe these special exceptions happened. In fact, some things that are fairly rare to see yet they aren't supposed to be at all, according to data. We have another member with a shortbed big block GMC ordered in a car color. I think the first owner was the dealership owner (or something like that).

I should say,"Or something like that",a lot because I remember a lot but still let details slip. Thanks Eric for jogging my memory. It's clear as a bell now . That is one of the greatest adventures of truck retrieval told here!

It's ok,there are ways to deal with it. What works for me is ignore threads like this, don't look at the pictures, and never post!

Here's a regional promo model from the Seattle area called the Husky Edition:

Here is some evidence of that exact same type of special promo type deal that came and went very quickly. Beware, those strange decals may be original!

Re: Unusual/non-conventional/odd/COPO Trucks

Well all I have to offer is my 70 4x4 short wide my folks bought new. It has no trim, had a 307, PS, A/C, chrome front bumper, wood bed, rear posi 3:07 ratio. Nothing too strange. My dad said he had the dealer put 12.5x16.5's on it. He also said he ordered a front posi bought was separate from the truck. I never saw that posi. These are not on the spid. The other is 69 c-10 2wd long bed my son has. It was a 3spd 6cyl with fact A/C. The weirdest thing is it has the pull type E-brake that I had thought ended in 68. It also has a small cover that covers the e-brake teeth that I've never seen before. Couls it be a early 69 model? I haven't bothered to look at the build date.

Wow that contender pic gave me goose bumps and I almost soiled my britches...
I wonder how many are left of that specific model.

We have the factory 70 GMC big block short fleet Sierra Grande that was ordered in Chevelle black cherry. I have personally spoken to the salesman that ordered this truck new in 69 (he is the senior VP of the company now) and he believes this truck to be the only one made that year dressed in that color and sporting those options.
