C-141B 7-level crew chief/ 5-level electro/environmental tech. 88-96 349th OMS/AGS Travis AFB Ca.. Was activated for 1 year and change for Desert Storm. Got out when they de-activated my unit. Could have stayed and worked C-5's.... But couldn't stand the thought of working on FRED.
Was real shy about all the home-coming activities. Felt there were plenty of more deserving troops. The most hazardous thing that happened to me was when a drunk guy knocked the boom box into the hot tub at the holiday inn. Those tough Air Force TDY's!

I loved the one wire nickname, funny how it was the box changers that used it most. Now that I'm out and working all systems avionics most of the really good techs that I work with came from the one wire background (myself included of course)....Trons don't seem to do near as well

Im an Aviation Electronics Tech or as the AE's like to call us Tweets. It is nice to have people thank us for the jobs we do but it is not necessary. I do it so others dont have to. I have enjoyed my time and wouldn't trade it for anything.

You must have read "Blind Man's Bluff". I wasn't there back then, but I can say that there were a lot of stories floating around when I was there. We actually decommissioned her in 1997. She was the oldest boat in the Pacific fleet when we decommed her. Here's a pic of the logo, and a Emergency blow (talk about a wild ride!)

I'm still in the aviation maintenance line also. A little different now though since I'm doin' the work of AE, AMS/H, AD, and launch/recovery refueling etc. on the Mighty Hurcules War Machines. By the way, our engines ARE installed right side up. Remember the TD amp says NO STEP on the top for a reason!

jlive68, do the MATCU Marines still go threw Aviation Electronics school then get pulled out a month before graduation just to sit in the barrecks for 3 months waiting for there C school which is on the same base and barrecks. I went threw that back in 1995-1996 when it was still in Millington, TN.

Were any of you sub guys in Reno for the reuion last Sept? Over 5000 showed up. I was there for the Scorpion SSN 589. The White Sands was the support ship for the Treste ll, we went to the Azores to try and figure out why the Scorpion sank.

Whoa, I'm impressed with all you "lifer" type guys. Not all of course, but you have certainly done your civic duty. I think from reading the posts I may be the oldest vet here and I only served 2 years, but one of them in Vietnam with about 4 months in western 'Nam along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Was in some stuff that was not real fun at the time. Anyway I'm glad to be part of a board that has so many patriots and I, as an old timer, congratulate you younger folks for your duty for our Country!
