progress

We have made good use of the winter break and the good weather, finished stripping the frame and off to powder coating and back already. We reinstalled the rearend, and most of the front end, just waiting for a few parts tomorrow. Installed the rear brake lines and today we picked up the cab after it was sealed with PPG epoxy and will be dropping it off with the painter tomorrow night, the bed is already there along with the fenders, hood, cowl, doors and tailgate but the cab will be first. All the sheet metal turned out great from the blasting, no rust and all new seam sealer. We will try to get the suspension done this week and get the front tires back on, drop the engine back in, we gave her a new coat of paint, new Summit pans for the engine and trans and a new polished water pump, along with lots of new seals to hopefully solve the small oil leak it developed in the first 2500 miles.

Re: Our new 69C10 project

Morning Scott. Very nice build you and the boys have going. My son and I built a tube framed drag car (62 Chevy II) that started back when he was about 6 years old. He's now at OIT in KFalls (Junior), wow how time flies by. Good to start them early. Great times and memories. I have one of his projects sitting in the garage now waiting for him. I am working on my 71 C10. I am interested in where you got the motor mounts? If you ever need a hand let me know. I can pm you my cell. I am just north a few miles (just south of OC). Enjoy the times!

progress this week

The boys and I had some good progress the end week of 2011, we dropped the engine in yesterday, trans and finished the brake and fuel lines. Today we wrapped up the power steering, started and fuel pump. lubed the chassis and got her back on all four wheels. Next week its just waiting for the front sway bar from ECE to arrive and mount the core support after we drill and tap it for the cooling fans and trans cooler. Then its just finishing the small stuff waiting for the cab and doors next month.
