Re: 1950 project

another quick thing to check at this time is the trans. dip stick tube clearance from fire wall & fender support rod. Looking good!

thanks, yours came out nice. I have almost an inch of clearance from the dipstick tube and am going to use *****in products inner fenders. they claim you will not use the support rods with them.

Re: 1950 project

ok got a little more done this weekend. I welded in the filler panels for the top and side air vents, welded in the cab corners and de-rusted the passenger fender (6 hrs). installed the *****in products posi align core support and got everything in 2 good coats of SPI epoxy. also my bed came in from Mar K and I am in the process of priming it and putting it together

the front fender temporarily mounted. the first time I have ever had a fender on this truck I bought it in pieces

the custom inner fender just resting in place to get an idea of how it will look

11/22 update

the hood is in primer now and I mocked up some wheels, they are 17's from my vette but are very similar to the Boyd smoothies I have ordered. looks like a truck again.

yes, the rear fenders and bed are new so those are straight. the rest is really not that bad. removing all the rust was the real job. ashame I have to take it back apart to paint it.

Re: 1950 project

Did you use stock rear fenders or are they custom ones? They look a little wider than stock.

wheels update

my custom ordered Boyed smoothies came in today. 17x10 on the rear and 17x8 for the front. 4.5 backspacing on all. this is the minimum you can get in this wheel. I may have to tub the rear just a little for comfort it will be real close with a 315/40 tire right at 13 inches wide, I have the 3 inch wider fenders already. my goal was to completely fill the rear wells and have a deep dished wheel. looks like mission acomplished.

rear

front

I know it is gonna hurt to cut the new bed sides, but it has to happen for the overall look I want. once I make the first cut it will be ok, its just in primer now anyway. hey I like shiney paint

to me i would say it depends on where you plan to split the colors, but with the bark brandy metallic maybe with a str8 silver or dove grey

seats update

not a whole lot done, I have been spending my time on the Bel Air lately. but I did bring my wheels to the powdercoater today to clear coat them and decided to go by the pull a part lot and go seat shopping. I found some really nice seats from a 94 Chrysler Concorde. 6 way power with power recline on both seats. the seats are in great shape but I will be recovering in grey leather. best of all $19.97 per seat. they are just sitting on paint cans in the pic, I need to build some mounts.
