Cab progress (like deja vu)

WOW! I just spent an hour of my life reading the background on this cab. Really fascinating reading. Ken, you had more patience than I would have had on this ordeal.

I love Liz's reply to CAG17 on the first or second page of the post too. LOL

For the near term, the 6-banger stays. I've been struggling with what to do (if anything) re powerplant. I want a BB, but that's a lot of hassle to get it to fit, mounts, accessories, etc. I then thought about a jumbo SB (like World Casting's 427 or 454... they're turn-key and include warranty, and mounts, accessories, etc., are readily available for these trucks). I've also had a hankering to do a hybrid, but may want to hold off on this idea for "the right" vehicle.

As for the hinges, the only thing I know about them so far is that they were pricey . More info when available.

That's the remote reservoir for the brakes. The booster and MC are under the dash. We decided that it was going to be too tough to get under there with fluid, so they ended up under the cowl. The cowl is shaved so you won't see them.

WOW! Ballsy doing bodywork next to the completed cab. You should look in to the bodyman's tape. It is a lot thicker to protect your panels.

Some additional progress. Shaved bowtie, shaved signals, and inside of fender notch rolled and holes shaved.

Front end is all together and squirted now... just haven't taken any pics lately. Column is in and all the underhood wiring has been stretched and run inside the frame channel. I'm real eager to actually drive the thing some day soon. Once I get all the front done, I've got to tear into the bed for a major redo with several fun mods planned .

Thanks all, for the comments... color is a "custom mix" based on 1971 Ford Grabber Blue. For those of you who know your color wheel, it's just a tad darker toward the red side.

Your truck is coming along really well. I love the hood hinges and the notched fenders.

If you would take the following comment as constructive.
Why not shave the firewall smooth where the e-brake cable use to exit?
It would complete the fire wall's smoothness.

Everything cab forward is squirted and back on the truck... includinn shaved bumper, grille trim, headlight buckets, etc. Seat is in, steering column is in and wired up. I actually started the truck...

Still needs back glass, brakes bled, solenoids in the doors, and a handful of other tidbits and it should be ready to drive a little while I replenish my funds to replace wheels and tires and get the back of the truck done.

No camera today = no pics.

I know you wanted headlights, wipers and everything on the turn signal stalk, so what is the column out of? And what are your plans for the wheels?

Everything's on the column now. I don't know what specific model it is... it is a custom-made "standard" 1980's GM... shortened a bit. This place made it for me. They seemed to do a good job at the time except that I had to spend another $1xx replacing bearings and a bad switch (unfortunately, it sat on the shelf too long for me to think he'd warranty the items).

Wheels are on there until I get some mod dimensions worked out on the rear, and then I'll order up some 18" TT2's to replace the wheels on there now.

Yep, gear shift lever just touches the roof right now. I'll be trimming a couple of inches off of it to make room for a small piston... ala...
