I thought the control arms are all the same, just different ball joints???? What is the difference in them? Thanks

Re: another crewcab swb build

the 3/4-1 ton lower arms have bigger "holes" so the newer "larger" ball joints will press into them

Re: another crewcab swb build

On your interior trim, I am pretty sure the Suburban trim will work on everything except the rear pillars (C pillars). Those (should) be the same as a regular cab truck, IIRC. I am pretty sure the front section of the headliner and all of the front trim, along with the B pillar trim will work for a crew cab. That being said, I have never had a crew cab, but have parted out quite a few suburbans.

Thank you VERY much. I am going to the wrecking yard today and getting me a set. I can use my existing upper arms, right? And just get 88-up lower/upper ball joints and outer tie rods. Do I need a different adjusting sleeve? Thanks Again
-Lance
BTW suicide63 your truck is looking GREAT! I am wanting to shorten my crewcab one day,but right now I need it for my BBQ business.

Joe has responded to this alreadybut let me say this,This conversion is a topic in 63-66 chevy trucks side and the control arms are differnt. With that being said I have not tried to put an 88-up balljoint in a 73-87 1/2 ton arm ,I just used the info found on this forum for the swap so if what you are saying is true that the a-arms are the same it should work. This was my first time doing the swap.Let us know what you come up with i would be interested to know.As far as the adjuster sleeves , the old ones work here is what i used.

All
88-up 1 1/4" spindles,calipers,7200lb rotor whith are 6 lug, brake lines ,upper and lower ball joints and outer tie rods, Thats it.

Joe let me clarify this,my old upper ball joints would not go into the 88up spindle ,but all you have to do is grind the rivets out of the old one and bolt the new ball joint in.

Re: another crewcab swb build

Well guys ,I took three days off work so i went up to Classic Parts today to get the patch panels for my bed.I was talking to the guy about bedsides being no longer available and he has 3 sets of swb bedsides coming in on oct 7 ,two sets were spoken for and guess who got the third set. I was starting to sweat it , i think i will still repair the old set and swap meet them.So for now i will strip the bed down to the floor pan and wait.

I'm sure that old bed will bring you some cash back if it is rust free those are not easy to find around KC and StL. Good Score!
