i would steer you away from a jetta or any newer vw or audi for that matter (been there done that with a 01 audi 1.8t). go to edmunds.com and look at some of the reviews owners have for their cars. Newer vw’s are prone to wiring and electrical problems. if youre looking for a 4 banger tuner car, look into 99+ two door 5 speed saab 93. they are 2 liter turbo's making more power than the jetta while being wayyy more original and classy. get a chip and MBC and be on your way to 18 PSI of boost. just my .02 cents
after having a nice car that had more problems than i cound affort while away at college, i just sold it and got a POS 2000 cavalier. college towns SUCK when it comes to break-in's and stolen cars. just buy yourself a beater that has REASONABLE power and be happy with it. if it gets stolen... so what?? you still have 5 grand of money invested in a money market or CD that you had after buying a nice beater.

1. Keep the truck. 2. I'd take a rear wheel drive Ford over a front drive GTP anyday. 3. If you have to get an import, get an AWD turbo Subaru...mid 13's from the factory and you can get on them in the snow and pouring rain. I love beating GT's and TA's, whether the roads are dry or not.

Well, your car, your decision. I personally say go for it or congrats on the buy, whichever applies at this point. I got a 2001 Jetta GLX w/ the VR6 and 5 speed. Man, I loved that car. All in all I am a truck person and now have a 2003 Silverado, but if I could have afforded it, I would have kept it too.

as for the rear drive Ford vs. the front drive GM (with a factory supercharger no less), i would still rather push a GM than drive a Ford. |

Anyway, I'd take a 32 Ford with a flathead over any GM front-driver anyday. Have you seen the new 06 Impala? Unfortunately GM is tanking and it is only getting worse. I've been a diehard GM guy forever, but when Ford and Chrysler are making rear-drive V8 cars while GM cancels theirs (the new Camaro has been nixed), I say it is time to rethink things.

Get whatever you want. You're the one who has to drive it and pay for it. I don't see anyone lining up to make your payments for you. Sure it's sad to see someone with whom you may have had something in common chnage but that's life.
Good luck. I hope you enjoy it. You'll be back. -Todd

I agree...I just wish GM was building some affordable rear wheel drive V8 coupes and sedans, similar in structure to the Mustang and the 300C/Charger.
They are making it hard for me to be a "GM Guy!"
