Yes, summit.
I looked for the part numbers but I think I deleted the e-mail they sent me, sorry.

I had to look under 'headlights' on their search function.

Total with shipping was like $140.00

2 headights @ 55/65
1 harness with relays

I received this in the mail today. Has anyone installed this kit? At first glance it looks like there are connectors to cut off and some splicing to do.

The Hella E-code H4 halogen lights and lens assys are arguably the best halogen upgrade. Hella E-code H4 lenses are NOT DOT legal, though. Sold as "off-road use only." I found a site that explains why better than I have here in the past:

Hella's E-code H4 lenses are not simply H4 bulbs in lame (by comparison) DOT legal lenses that most every other headlight maker markets. As you can see in the second link, the E-code H4 lens assys have "H4" cast into the glass lens right smack in the middle of the lens. That cast-in "H4" is the proof you're looking for to go E-code (European) lenses in the Hella brand. I don't know if other brands offer the same E-code lens pattern with or without the "H4" cast in the lenses.

As the first link's author claims, the E-code (European) beam pattern is sharper with a superior pattern than Hella Vision Plus lenses or other DOT legal lenses, IMO. The comment in the first link that other drivers are not bothered by the E-code low-beam lens pattern despite the H4 bulb brightness is what I've also found to be true with my Hella E-code H4 lenses and H4 bulbs (60/55w). They are flat lenses, as well, which makes for a cleaner look on our trucks. The flat lenses look better on IHCs and Land Cruisers, too (I've moved them around as I've changed daily drivers amongst my "fleet"

).

I bought my 7" H4s back in the '90s after reading about them in a 4x4 mag. I still have Hella's original packaging that I keep old sealed beams in for protection. I don't know if the package info is still valid, but here goes anyway for Hella E-code H4 lens assys (with H4 bulbs):

In the middle of making this post, I decided to do some research. Looks like Susquehanna Motorsports (rallylights.com) sells the E-code H4 conversion kits (marked as for "off-road use only"). Also note that one can order the conversion kit with a higher rated bulb than I have:

With that info, consider whether you want to upgrade your truck's electricals to send full power to strong H4 bulbs unfortunately stuck behind DOT legal lenses with their inherent limitations. With just relays and H4 bulbs, you might actually offend other drivers from the extra brightness sent through inferior DOT beam pattens that have side and overhead diffusion requirements that E-code lenses lack. As Susquehanna explained, due to the DOT-mandated superfluous diffusion requirements, you won't have as much light on the road, either. Of course, you might miss some unlit, overhead signs.

Just some expensive food for thought...

Right, the Hella light housings I have use a 9005 (#HL83510)bulb with a different reflector. Same bulbs I use in my Ram and Dakota...

100W!

I will modify the rest of the harness to work.

On the Harness for the 9005 Hi beam and 9006 Lo beam there is a Gray socket and a Black socket which takes the 9005 and the 9006 ?

Yes, I have. I am sorry about that, I should have specified that I am NOT using stock headlights.

AFAIK, you can use the stock connectors from your truck with a common ground on that harness and still be ahead, price wise.

Okay, I've installed and tested the above headlight upgrade parts.

Very easy/simple installation, total plug and play set up.
Having the 55watt low beam nobody flashed me driving through town and on the back roads the 100watt high beam was awesome.
Really nice light pattern, both high and low.

Cost was under $140 shipped.

Yes, I like the entire set up.
Simple installation
All plug in applications, only need to ground the two headlight wires
Good lighting pattern from the Hellas
Very bright when you kick in those illegal 100 watters too

I got the plugs and relays and tied everything in for $18.00 to run my regular Halogen lights. That's all I needed and works great. I guess if you want the fancy lights, go for it, and the big bucks. To each his own, but are neat setups. Keep in mine that some state laws prohibit certain kinds of lighting though. Like in Maryland here, blue lights are outlawed unless came with certain newer cars.....Would be a real b*tch to put all that money into that project, just to get pulled over buy the man. Just my 2 cents worth......
