Re: Funmudder Bought His First Truck!!!!!!!!!!
Be aware that there is three different fuel pumps for the 305 v6 two look identical other than the mounting holes are different sizes and the third has more outlets. I will look to see if I can find the Carter #'s. By the way congrats on your purchase, I love those 305's lots of torque and they last forever!!!!

Re: Funmudder Bought His First Truck!!!!!!!!!!
Let me know if you need another 4 speed and Rockwell t-case. I have one here from a 68 Chevy I ripped apart...
I also have decent drive lines and a comple set of running gear you can have for spares. Last edited by FormerMember; 11-13-2005 at 06:34 PM. |

Re: Funmudder Bought His First Truck!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the offer grendel, I'm in the process of looking for parts trucks now. I know where there are a few trucks, somewhat like mine, that I may go see about next spring (winter here is a bad time to buy parts vehicles) There isn't any glovebox decal, they peeled it off while painting it green. But, it still has the original decals for operating the 4 wheel drive inside the cab I don't know about the tach, it looks like it is from the factory. I don't care, it works and it looks cool, so that is THAT!!!!!!
Thanks for the compliments everyone. Now I actually FEEL like part of the board, not an outsider . |

Re: Funmudder Bought His First Truck!!!!!!!!!!
I have a NP205 in it now. The Rockwell was missing a thrust washer and had a shift fork in backwards, which was why it jumped out of gear. The Rockwell internals don't have hardly any wear, but neither does the 205, and thats a good thing. I know where there it another t-221 t-case, and I'll probably buy it. It seems like it would be a good thing to have around. The Holley 500 carb is on, and man, don't she run good! Revs up faster, and shakes the whole truck more when you rev it up. A lot more that the Stromjunk did. When I get the truck moving again, I'll post a report on how good the carb works. I'm getting my driveshafts redone to the right lengths for the 205 at the moment. Should have them in the truck by the end of the week.
Things are going good with the truck, so far. I found the cab corners aren't too good. But what would you expect?? It is a 40 year old Maine survivor, and the corners are the only real rusty part of the truck. It's has bubbles here an there, but the can be easily sanded. I've been working on it quite steadily, and I havent had one twisted off bolt yet. I just hope my luck stays this good. Last edited by JAKES 68GMC; 04-18-2006 at 11:42 AM. |

Well, almost a year and a half with the truck and all is still going well! I had to bring this thread back from the dead, I couldn't resist.

I don't know how good of shape the V6 is though, shes starting to use some oil. No smoke or leaks to amount to anything.
