Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC
It's all about as stretching the budget to me. I have a total of $4K and a nice parts truck. I am hoping to get a better than new truck minus paint for that. I have always stopped to look at anything done Rat Rod style at any show I have gone to. I am trying to get a lot character on a small budget. I should get the tires mounted tomorrow then I am just waiting on the steering box to come it. I ended up getting a manual one used on ebay for a real good price.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC
Nothing wrong with painted wheels. Some of the nicest trucks I've seen have painted wheels and left in a black/dark gray primer.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC
Hey Jebb,
Are you going with small hub cap or leaving them open? What tires are you going with, white walls or black?

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC
Thanks guys!
Cal, I am going to run them just like this until I paint the truck. When I paint it these wheels will go back to black and I will run the 47-55 GMC baby moon style hub cap. For that reason I am going to just run black tires. White walls would be really cool though. I am still junk hunting the fat rear steelies. If I can't find some nice used ones by time I do the rear end I am just going to order up some custom back spaced ones from Stockton.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC
I vote whitewalls as well. By the time your ready to do the good bodywork and paint you will need new tires anyway.

Hey Jebb,
My vote is for white wall if you looking for that true rat rod look.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC
Well guys I have decided on the white walls after all. I did save a few hundred bucks on the steering box. I also saved a lot of money on springs and shocks thanks to a friend . The progress is going to screech to a halt until I get some money from the guy that bought my 78 though. It's a bummer but what can you do. I am on vacation all this week and I think I may try to make a little time to clean and paint the rear frame so I can be all set to do the notch. If I do anything worth shooting pics of then I will post them.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC
Hopefully you can stay off the forum long enough to make some progress. I just had to give you a hard time buddy. Keep up the progress. Hopefully I can take the 68 apart and redo her oneday soon.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC
Yep still white walls. I had debated this issue a bit before but due to budget was going to go with out. I think I can afford them. I just have to wait for some money first. That yellow truck is SWEET!

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC
I thought black would look better but that yellow one really looks nice with those wheel and tires.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC
Thanks fella's!
This looks dangerous! I was driving this thing like this!!! It's coming along. This picture also shows the rear swaybar that my brother in law got with a Ford rearend and it seems to fit perfectly. He just had it laying around so he just gave it to me.
