Man, I ready to put gauges in my dash now, but I'm having a heck of a time - I love the new Autometer "Phantom II" gauges (White w/black letters during the day, black w/white letters at night), but they only make them in like 2-1/8" size.

I don't suppose that anyone has :

A list of manufacturers who make 5" and also the 3-3/8" gauges for our dash, AND what product line they belong to?

A clue what size gauges fit in the vacuum/temp holes of a 7-hole dash?

I am thinking about doing a modified version of gringoloco's dash (3-gauge), but adding a temp, oil pressure down in the bottom, and finding some way to get fuel in there.

It would be really cool to find a gauge that would alert you when the fuel gets to 1/8 of a tank or something, also.

Curious to hear feedback - sorry to ressurect an old thread, but it seems related, so ...

Either one would work. Autometer 3 3/8" fits PERFECTLY though. I had planned on doing what you're looking at doing, but couldn't find a 3 3/8" fuel gauge for the center. Anything else there just seemed pointless to me. Tach is the high priority to me so it is front and center. The quad is oil pressure, fuel level, water temp, and voltmeter. Everything else is just unnecessary extras IMO...

i didn't realize anyone made a speed/tach combo out there - i knew about the quad gauges already though ...

if the large holes in the dash are 5", then a dual speed/tach and a quad oil/water/fuel/volt gauge would allow using the 3-gauge dash and still leave the blinkers intact (i really like the stock 3-gauge blinkers a LOT and want to keep them!)

probably sounds crazy. too damned expensive though!!

I just got off the phone w/autometer.

They echoed what I'd heard previously: Autometer has absolutely zero plans to start manufacturing the Gauge #5514 ever again, and they will not (in the foreseeable future) be producing any 3-3/8" fuel gauges. The sales on that particular style and size of gauge was so poor that they didn't even clear out the warehouses until almost 2 years after discontinuing the product line - they cut the product line almost 5yrs ago

Very soon, they will be coming out with a 5" tach/speedo combo gauge in the Hot Rod series, but none of the cool inverse-lighting gauges (PhantomII, Ultra-LiteII) will be getting those.

I really like those two series of gauges, though! They're white w/black letters at day, black w/white letters at night. ( Example: http://autometer.com/cat_gaugeop.aspx?sid=61 )

So....no more 3-3/8" fuel gauges, except with Dolphin gauges (I checked VDO, Dolphin/Shark, Autometer, Classic Instruments, etc.). Sucks my ass!!

I'm gonna play around with photoshop and see what kind of cool layouts I can make. There has to be an alternative dash setup to be made using other size gauges.

They never made the fuel in the phantom series. Just the pro Comps. I believe.

I believe you are right. Basically, whatever I could find the 3-3/8 fuel in was gonna be what I'd buy. I'm set on wanting to do the 3-gauge dash cluster, though, so .... I'll work around it! Ultimately it's a matter of trying to find what I'm looking for - two 5" gauges and one 3-3/8"

Just gotta look hard enough!! I hate shopping!!

I saw this on Autometer's site and thought it looked like a pretty cool idea. You could leave all the idiot lights and blinkers in place if you wanted, and still have full gauges. I say just drop the coin. It will be worth it.

The quad comes with a new sender. It's a standard bolt-in for a fuel cell or a tank like ECE or fuelcellguy. You can also use it in the Blazer tank. Dunno about the in-cab though...

I just used a dremel cut-off wheel. The tin is very thin and easy to cut. Center the holes on the existing recesses and the bezels will be centered perfectly. -Chris
