Re: Idea on cleaning up the back end...
sup Kenneth,
your ideas are awesome as usual! For me, I think you should stick with led slits for taillights. Jay

Re: Idea on cleaning up the back end...
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha... oh, uh... not yet. I've got most of the sheetmetal tacked into place. A guy I met when I moved to CO is going to lend me a hand in Feb, when he gets some free time. Hopefully it'll be complete by March-- even squirted and all. We'll see.
Oh, and LED slits it is. I'm probably going to machine some to get a little 3D effect to them so they won't be entirely flat, but they'll still be flush mount. I'll post a profile line drawing in a bit.

Re: Idea on cleaning up the back end...
Something like the second one. Same red Lexan, and same fire polish as the flat ones... just some texture to it so it looks less "fabricated."

Re: Idea on cleaning up the back end...
Trying to decide on placement for the taillights and license. Should the lights line up to the bottom edge of the license or centered on it? Or???

Re: Idea on cleaning up the back end...
I vote for center of license plate.
How are you going to round out the vertical bed egdge? Wait, lemme guess. round tubing. I've been thinking alot about this mod and it got me thinking that you could extend that body line to the area above the steps and behind the rear fenders, but then, for continuity sake, you would have to extend it to the back of the cab. Jay is it done yet? lol.

Re: Idea on cleaning up the back end...
I like them down low ... draws the eyes downward and makes the rear of the truck look even lower.

Re: Idea on cleaning up the back end...
Thanks all. Cutting starts next week... and I'm going with the taillights aligned to the bottom edge of the license plate. While most of you like the centered better, for me, the "greater" alignment is with the rest of the truck (side step height, and the general lowness of the truck)... the lower taillights pulls the eye lower.
I'll try to keep the thread updated with progress.

Re: Idea on cleaning up the back end...
I can't figure out how the tailgate will open. Are you going to cut that round stock on top after welding the skin to it?
Sorry if this has been covered -Brian

Re: Idea on cleaning up the back end...
A few pics... zipped up a few seams and extended the stake verticals down to the step, keeping the natural curve they have in them. Also got the front corners of the bed rounded and the front of the bed skinned.

Re: Idea on cleaning up the back end...
I was thinking about those front corners on mine. Wasn't sure if I'd curve it in like that or out toward the cab corners. That looks clean though! Love the stake pocket too!!! Good to see some progress.
