Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires
Here's my take. Generally with factory wheels white letters out. Aftermarket, blackwalls out. My truck has truck rallys with Firestone radial ATX's white letters out. My Corvette has factory aluminum wheels with Cooper Cobra radial GT's white letters out. I wish the Vette had BFG's but the Coopers came on the car and are almost brand new. Being an old Vette nut, I think some sixties vettes actually look best with whitewall tires, like a 66 converitble a buddy has with factory wheel covers and whitewall tires. Now, granted, aftermarket wheels would look better, but if staying with the factory wheel covers, it's whitewalls out.

Please someone say something good about my "Tiger Paws". I'm starting to get a "GMC complex". They should be allowed in the rule......

Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires
In general, I agree with this rule, but there are exceptions. I'm sitting here trying to picture your truck with blackwalls, and I think it looks better like it is.

Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires
Let me get this straight. If I dont turn my white letters in, am I gay or a woman. If I come on here & say 20" billets are gay, you need to get rid of them? Come on guys, this post is getting pretty stupid. There are NO rules.

Ok, Matt-I think we'd AAAAALLLLL agree that you have problems!
Corn, hey, it's all in fun- really, it boils down to what you like on YOUR vehicle. I didn't get offended when Andy said my Camaro looked stupid. I know he didn't intend to offend me- he just doesn't like the look I have. Apparently he just doesn't like my speedo and combat boots either.

Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires
What's wrong with the Tiger Paw GTS? I've got a set on two cars right now, white letters out. I love white letters on literally anything. As long as they're filled in. I dislike white outlined, and I just *despise* whitewalls. The Tiger Paw GTS is a good tire, and I've gotten almost 100k out of a previous set.
Here's a couple of pics. I *know* I'm going to get chewed out for what I'm putting white letters on, but I don't give a rat's ass.

Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires
LOL!! Just for the record I have white (lettering) out on my '69 K10 and prefer it that way but if I replace those tires (Sport King A/T's...BFG Knockoff's) with a tire that does or doesn't have white lettering option I could still go either way. It's just not that big of deal to me but thereare a lot of variables to take into consideration when make such a decision. To each their own...

Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires
Well I got the van for $600 and use it for work. At 450 miles a day I want some good rubber under it, and at the same time I don't want to have to empty the bank every time I put a set on. Like I said, I got 100k out of those on the wagon in the past, and they do well in the wet or dry, so on they went.
And I feel like a sin to turn in white letters if a tire has them. If I don't get a set of GTS's for the truck when it's done, I'll probably go with the BFG Comp T/A's. I've had a set, but wasn't really all that impressed with them. The Avalanche will get BFG's next year, just cuz they have full white letters. 8P

Re: man rule 1,000,001: white letter tires
didn't mean to abandon my thread but I've been in Atlanta at the race. I'm amused to see I touched on a interesting subject, I mean't for this to be a fun subject, the truth is, it is a matter of personal opinion, but it can be an important factor on some vehicles. For example, if I was looking to purchase a fully restored car/truck, and I went to check out a prospect and the first thing I spotted was a cheap set of tires protruding from it, imediately I would begin to wonder in what other ways did this person "skimp" on quality. On the other hand, buying a project vehicle anything goes, at the beginning stages of a project you just want to have fun with it, so almost anything goes. Juan more thing, ladies, hope your not offended buy the phrase "man rule", it applies to both man and WOman. This picture is an example of what I mean by a dorky looking tire, even though there is no such thing as a "Goober Grabber" tire so please don't ask me where I bought them. What was a nice truck got terribly de-valued by photo-paint.

Apparently, BFGoodwrich has taken the guesswork out of this situation. Here's their stand on the subject:

By the way, there is NO WAY that men have 1,000,001 rules...
This is like rule number 37

On my 4wd: 32" BFG Mud Terrains, raised white letters facing out.
On my new 2wd: they are the way I bought them. They work for now, but when I get a new set of wheels/tires, the outside will be blackwall.

Just in case you were all wondering...you do have a choice...maybe you just don't want white letters...or can't afford yellow lettered Goodyear Eagle #1's ...well the good people at Autozone they have different color markers....and fruit for your beer...You do have a choice...Just for people who want Raised Colored Letters on their tires...
