Very nice, and a damn good job. Might have to use that on my truck next time...I used tractor paint from TSC, heh.

Looks good, better than the multi colors. How easily does the paint scratch, Andy? Does it seem to stick good?

Re: back in black... *I slopped some paint on the 'ole girl*
For the first time in my life... I can honestly say, there isn't a scratch in my paint ANYWHERE!
I really couldn't say how scratch proof it is. Ask me again in a month... i KNOW I can't keep it like that. Billy, don't aim so low man... I hope yours looks BETTER. |

Re: back in black... *I slopped some paint on the 'ole girl*
no... the 500 is low on power, some blow by, a little too much noise in the morning in that moment before the oil pressure kicks up... I just don't have a warm fuzzy on this engine.
Plus, I'd really hate to scatter a 500... Plus, my girlfriend got this one for me, and I'd like to keep it in onee piece. So a couple months ago i had a 425 given to me. I'll be making a quick inspection on the 425, see if it has a year in it, and then spend that time rebuilding the 500, and with any luck, it'll be a kick ass 500 when all is said and done. Think of it as preventitive measures. |

Re: back in black... *I slopped some paint on the 'ole girl*
That looks like a totally different truck! I did the circus wagon deal on mine for a while, & shot her with some light grey sealer, just to have 1 color. After 22 yrs of playin with the old longhorn, I dont see that a shiny paint job will make her run any faster.....so I plan to do a John Deere "Blitz job " on mine as a final paint job. What the he!!, easy touch ups, & cheap enough to boot L

Andy,
What the Longhorn really needs is a Mr. Horsepower decal on the lower fender Then you'd have a pretty sweet looking truck again! Oh...and turbines...that would be badass! later, James

that truck was more of a liability than an asset... had to cut her loose.
She served quite well as a parts truck. |

It's actually the mineral spirits. You vaporize any kind of solvents, and the tree huggers all throw a fit.

"bottle says fatal if swallowed" Maybe the environmentalists and their EPA buddies should take a swig or two and relax a little... Dang, everything is fatal these days.

Re: back in black... *I slopped some paint on the 'ole girl*
There is a guy on a Mopar message board that has painted 5-6 cars the same way, he used a foam roller, sands between each coat and it looked like an expensive spray job. He did a whole write up on how he did it. He didn't prime anything though?? If you guys are intrested in the read he did, I'll find the link and post it here.

Re: back in black... *I slopped some paint on the 'ole girl*
Here are two threads about it, OLDIRON:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=195035 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=190833 Before anyone asks me, my friend had to replace his transmission (we're doing it this weekend), and he's finishing out a 1600sq ft addition to his house, so the car is on the back burner and NO painting of the car has been done. I will say this: DO NOT use a metallic paint with the roller. It comes out marbled looking (which is sorta cool, but sorta ghetto looking).
