From the picture I'd say you want a 6/8 drop.

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
Yea that picture is a little too low. I like the rake though. I was thinking more like 4/6 or 4.5/6.5? I don't know exactly how low the rear sits yet since the bed is off and I just have some Nissan 300ZX stockers to roll on for now until I get my wheels/tires I'm gonna run. Plus I had a custom built tranny crossmember made to raise the tranny up where it needed to be and give me clearance above it for the longtube headers. I'll eventually get an exhaust put on. But anyway that crossmember sticks down a couple inches below the bottom of the frame rail so I can't go too low.

Finished bending tubing and making up the gas line today so I figured I'd start her up and see what she does. Fired up first crank.

Finally got my dash shaved, glassed and painted. Here's a pic. Not that anyone's been commenting in here the past month or so.

That last picture is just a photoshop of the wheels on the truck but they'll be on there for real sooner than later.

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
I love that dash too but I bet it's gonna glare in the window bdly while you try and drive in the sun.
So if you didn't strip it then what was done? Just glassed over the original sanded and painted? Also what drop exactly are you running now?

Like I said about the dash... Quote:
All I did in the rear was swap a Ford 9" on top of the leaf springs, took out the overload springs, put on some traction bars and welded up some new shock mounts. This setup came directly out of my 72 Nova. It has a Strange spool w/ 4.11 gears. In essence... it's a "flip kit". I'm fixing to lower the front 4" and slap my new wheels/tires on (12" wide wheels on the rear)

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
I know how it is to do bondo work.
I've done body work for a few years now so I've been through it plenty. I just wondered if you used resin and mat, which should stick very well and hold it's own, or if you used a filler/putty like bodno or duraglass. If you used a filler I wondered if you just roughed up the surface or used some kind of adhesive promoter to help it stick to the dash. It looks great, love it. I figure no matter if it's a daily or not it's gonna glare and probably bad, my black one does I dyed in my monte carlo and so did the 86 k10's I used gloss black and they glare, but I wouldn't change it to save my a$$. I love anything and everything shiney, just the white might be too much, not sure. Also what's bad about the fillers is how they don't stay stuck to things that are common to expand and contract or flex. Being white, that helps reflecxt heat so that might help you alot, and if she doesn't set in direct sun for a long time that'll really keep it nice for a very long time. Just make sure some idiot doesn't jam their hand down on it hard and crack it.

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
Although it may look white'ish in the pic it's actually tan that matches the paint job on the truck. And yes we used fiberglass resin and mat to make sure it stuck. After that the guy who painted it took it and did his thing with filler and sanding and getting it smooth as possible. Left it alone for a few months just sitting in the inside of my truck. Scroll back to page 2 and you'll see it primered sitting on the dash. Meanwhile, I did some other projects and then came back to it later. Had a couple spots that lifted a little and he went back and sanded it more and filled in where it was neccessary and painted it.

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
Here's a pic of the bed where I cut out the fenders to fit some meat back there. I'm having the factory fenders widened to keep somewhat of a factory look.

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
I love how people use the factory fenders, but have them widen to clear fat meats. That just lookes awesome when it's finished.
I'm a bit color blind so forgive me for calling it white. I knew it looked darker then white, sorta cream colored or something. Still yet though it could be turd brown and still look great. I like it. I'd consider doing it on the next cracked dash i run across.

Lookie what I got from FedEx today...
Vacuum canister, overflow tank & my exhaust cut-outs. I should have everything installed by this weekend. Maybe I'll actually be able to stop this time when I go piss off the neighbors driving it around the block

Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
Since you seem feedback hungry throughout this post: I like the overall approach and the quality of work you've done or had done so far to the truck. I always liked the shortboxes. It sounds mean as well. Nice detailing on the engine compartment.
It's your truck, build it the way YOU want it. Screw other's opinions...follow what your tag line says. On other boards I'm on, people asking for feedback often wind up hearing stuff they didn't want to hear, and then start getting all defensive as to why they did what they did, which to me, defeats the whole purpose of asking for it. That takes away from a build, IMHO...and since you're doing such a great job thus far, and it seems as though you are stoked about the progress, why have anyone shoot down what you've already done? The truck looks great. It's not necessarily my style, but having been a body man in a former life, I can appreciate the quality job you have there. I also admire the fact that you're building this truck as a tribute to your Dad, and doing what YOU want to see done the WAY you want it done- i.e. the dash. How's that for feedback?? Re: My 84 C/10 Progress Thread
love everything about your truck. looks b*tchin.
i was wondering if you thought about boxing your frame where you put the c-notch in? might be a good idea if you plan to take it to the track to minimize frame twist and flex. just a thought.
