Re: Centerline wheel center caps

Maybe?? I know the 18's are done cause they were gonna ship them. It would seem like the cnc on a 20" wheel would be different but should be easily scaled....

Re: Centerline wheel center caps

the programs are very easily scaled ... believe me, I sell CNC equipment for a living ... it's much simpler than what they are telling you. They are stalling for some reason OTHER than the programming.

Here's a pic of some of my companies work ... although they are bike wheels they are 18"

This is gonna surprise a lot of folks, but there isn't enough money in it. Seriously.

you are right. they can build them cheeper in china. Ask Discount Tire, almost everything they have on the sales floor says made in chinda on the backside of the wheel. they sell 20's for 600 bucks. although they weigh 80 lbs. a piece and trash factory front rotors they still sell like hotcake. It is just hard to compete and maintain a quality standard. some people donot understand why some wheels cost more than others and its about the quality in materials and craftsmanship alot of the times you just get what you pay for.

Re: Centerline wheel center caps

you would be absolutely blown away if we were to start talking about Liability Insurance costs PER WHEEL.

if you build it, then you are responsible ... thus the insurance.

No doubt. The time in just one cut billet wheel explains the high prices, not to mention the machinery and tooling. It is certainly not the price of the slug that's driving costs.

Would I have the same problem with these rims on a '79? I like the idea of this rims black powdercoated on my truck.

Re: Centerline wheel center caps

67-87 chevy truck will have the problem with the center caps due to the rotor but the 88-99 wont have the problem due to the rotor being smaller but they do make the wheels with the bigger but uglier center cap

Re: Centerline wheel center caps

Well Guys ,
I ordered these wheels the other day , then noticed no one had the center caps on . So I called centerline and told them , they will not fit my rotor . Centerline told me they have encountered this before and they would machine a cap a little bigger for me before they ship my wheels . So i will keep you guys updated . I also see they increased the price from $169 ea to $179 ea . Still a awesome deal though . I live in canada and wheels from that part of the country usually caost about $250 for shipping ....they are sending them for $175...So i will let you know how it turns out ...none left in stock but they said 2 weeks .

Re: Centerline wheel center caps

does anyone know if there is a rotor that will bolt on and work with the Centerlines??

i'm wondering if an '88+ rotor (which is what gen. the wheels are made for) would bolt on and work.???

Re: Centerline wheel center caps

It is not just the smoothies I have Intro Segsters and my caps did not fit. I just spent $30 and took my rotors to a machine shop and had them put on a lath. (If that's how you spell it)

I just ordered high polished smoothies , I told them about this problem and they said they were going to machine me a bigger cap , so I will let you guys know what happens . I hope to start a build thread soon , just gathering parts now , plus I am waiting to get heat and lights in my new garage . too cold and too much snow here BRRRRRR .

I have Centerline Stars and my 6 lug McGauphy rotors work fine with my caps.

Re: Centerline wheel center caps

I have a set of the Stingray III's 20x8 in front and 20x8.5 in the rear. The truck is a 1984 with the original 5 on 5 rotors and I had no problems getting them to fit. I also know the rotors are original because the truck has been in the family for all its life and has 47,000 miles.
