ummm.... might need to look at having the blue one shipped. I-26 is over 3 hours west of me! wheew! I'm putting in a 454 w/400 tranny - auto - does the column have enough shift positions (not the older, 2 speed type - if there is such a thing???..)? And could I get a pic too... Thanks much!

here is the blue colum i have it came out of a 72 with a 400 trans. the bottom shaft needs to be replaced it was hit with a lawn mower. |

cpne i looked at it today its there but how do you take it off? i took the bolt and little bracket off but could not get the part you want off. it was cold here so i did not mess with it to long.

If you got the bracket off that holds the housing in place, it should be a matter of pulling it out. It presses in and has an o-ring seal IIRC. Since it's been there about 40 years, you may have to persuade it. Perhaps you can grab it with pliers and twist it side-to-side to free it? Or if there is a spot for leverage, maybe pry it upward? I need this part so if you can get it without damaging it and the threads that the speedo cable go on, name a fair price to cover your hassling with it.
