Re: I finally found my 67 SWB!!!
Why is everyone assuming bagging means cutting? I thought you could essentially replace the stock springs with bags?
I actually rode in my first bagged truck ever on Monday. A feller at work has a "Slammed" 2000 S-10, but it was very tastefully done. Very nice truck. The bags rode "different." They felt kinda stiff (the rear bounced a lot.)

Re: I finally found my 67 SWB!!!
this is a good thread , lot's of opinion's , me I am STOCK all the way !!
I Live in VIRGINIA so I can't have a custom anyway so it's sort of fitting , I do think that in time the stock vehicle's of the pre 1974 era will be worth something in stock form , I've been in this hobby for 25 year's myself now and can remember when you weren't cool unless your 68 camaro was 3ft high in the back with the front end scraping the pavement and the underside of the fender's had to be painted orange !! and don't forget the 10'' wide slot's ! and the two highjacker sticker's in your quarter window's with the little rabbit !! how cool would that be today ? the pro street thing took it's tole on a lot of would be valueable car's , many a guy is sitting right now looking at his 1967 Z/28 (GULP) PRO STREET that he built in 1985 !!! I say to each his own but as for me GM left us a great many year's of classic style car's and truck's and I like them just the way they left the factory ,,,,

Re: I finally found my 67 SWB!!!
here is my $.02 ---> I love bagged trucks, but only when they start out as nothing and are turned into show stoppers. This is a very rare and very valuable truck the way it is(mostly origional) and basicly every dollar you put into it bagging it or customizing it is going to make it less valuable(in my opinion). You already have a bagged truck and I would hate to see you sell that to fund the destruction (my opinion) of a very nice origional truck. You can just keep the truck the way it is and use it as a daily driver, which would leave money to finish the other project and time to spend with the fam. Just my $.02 but i guess i still gotta say go with what you think is right.

Re: I finally found my 67 SWB!!!
Wow, what a thread! I've never seen so many opinions in one thread before.
Raguemoe, very nice truck! I won't tell you what to do with it. I know what I would do, but it's not mine. My 68 was an almost perfect original when I bought it. It was a no-option 6cyl/3spd with 68,000 original miles. The only things non-factory were new paint and a set of rallies like yours. I took three trophies home out of the first four shows I entered it in. It was boring though. I changed the engine/tranny, seat, steering wheel, bumpers, and other what-nots. I later changed to 5-lug, lowered it a little, put a set of 17's on it. I later changed back to 15's for cheaper tires. Last April, my dad and I tore it down to repaint and do a little more. I don't have any pics of the way it looked when I bought it on my computer, but here are shots of before and after the restore. It's worth alot more now than it was original.

Re: I finally found my 67 SWB!!!
That's a heck of a nice truck to start with......my only input would be to keep it simple.

Re: I finally found my 67 SWB!!!
i hate new cars! i have my 71 and a 72 camaro w/ a ls6. i like the new car features but i want them in the classic body. Low fast and loud. haha big wheels are the only option. im looking at polished 20's for the truck. ive got a 5.3/4l60e waiting to go in it also!!!
something like this...... and the maro!

Re: I finally found my 67 SWB!!!
Wow! That truck is awesome! I loove the one youre working on too! Unreal lucky devil! I was wondering....if it's not too much trouble...what size tires do you have on those wheels? And if you do change rims...would you sell the centers? I have a cherry set ready for my ride but couldnt decide on tire sizes till I saw yours. They look just right!! Thanks man!

Re: I finally found my 67 SWB!!!
Not saying what to do,but reacting to a couple comments.I`m not a bone stock guy either. But,just because you`re too young to appreciate something doesn`t make it ok to butcher to be trendy.Classic is forever.Trends...well we know about those. No one wants side pipes,10" rims up front, and skateboard tires anymore. But that stuff was reversible.Don`t you hate finding a truck or a nice cab with a sunroof? They were the rage! You hack up a frame,it`s committed. Many states won`t even register those. You have to understand there are people who have loved these trucks since day 1 before some of you were born and it`s hard to see a generation come along and choose our favorites as a canvas for their trend.
A car like that `69 Camaro does nothing for me and if anyone took a rarer high-optioned Camaro, like this `67 is to trucks, and did that they would definately devalue the car and narrow who would want it.That paint scheme is about dated already. It all comes back to what the core of what the vehicle is in the long run.Keeping it moderate is what lasts or can be changed back.

with the old guy. What Raguemoe wants to do looks great. Everything can be put back to original if he wanted to. That particular truck is a highly optioned original and shouldn't get cut up. His project '72 also looks great and will be a beautiful truck when it is complete. I don't think all of us "Naysayers" are against a nice customized truck, we just hate to see that particular truck get butchered because it's nice the way it is. Bags and wheels would make that truck look great but put a big "C"notch in the frame and the original asspects of the truck are gone. It's his truck so he's going to do what he want's to do with it, more power to him. Let's not turn this post into a European Soccer match. Everyone has their own opinions and they are intitled to post them. There's no reason to get balligerant and disrespectful to other members because they have a differant opinion then you do GRINGOLOCO. Mellow out and smile, it makes for a nicer day.
