Re: Check out my 24" wheels, now what??
Hey dudes, I have been waiting for someone to catch on to my post with the frame and the big Mickey Thompson Sport Radials. I may be breaking the rules and I certainly do not want to do anything that would offend anyone but that is a picture of a 41 Willys I am building. I say I am building but actually I have a car builder doing this car although I have designed the car. It is going to be a roadster with a removable hard top, A/C, paddle shift, and air ride. I widened the rear fenders 3" on either side for the wide body. check out claytoncustomcars.net. I started this project 2 1/2 years ago. The car should be done by march 1 and right now the fun stuff is happening. Right now while I have no pictures to post of my truck I thought I share the photo's the car builder is sending me.

Re: Check out my 24" wheels, now what??
I would really like to see some pictures of that nice dash you say you have. Not sure if it's on the 4x4 or on the low rider.
Thanks, |

Re: Check out my 24" wheels, now what??
It is on the 4 x 4. Nothin special but I love the autometer guages. We build an aluminum filler to go around the radio to match the aluminum dash panel. We just used 1/4" plate aluminum. check out the seats. They are called Flexsteel and they are built for motor homes. Very pricy new so I found a steal on a used set.

Re: Check out my 24" wheels, now what??
No, Willy's never did make a convertable. These guys were building Willys convertables...............no top, no windows, just a cool lookin machine (google Willys Swoopster and check out that car). I told them I wanted a convertable but I wanted a removable hard top. They went to work and fabricated a top for production. The cool thing about the top is that is looks like a choped top. You know how the Willys coupe have almost a bubble top because they stick up so much. I can show you a picture of the rolling chassis before we started all of the modifications. They already had the body in production. We have just made some radical changes.

Re: Check out my 24" wheels, now what??
this is a picture of the original rolling chassis with the top on and off. These are borrowed rims just for the picture. The is the original canvas we started with and I hope you check it out as it comes along. I am going to cover the hard top in canvas material so it looks like a convertable.

Re: Check out my 24" wheels, now what??
That's a sweet Willys and a sweet dash in the pickup. Have you thought about adding some milled lines to the center section to kinda blend with the cluster and the glovebox door? Again, very nice!

Re: Check out my 24" wheels, now what??
Mark, could I get a post or a PM with some info on the willy's rear wheels tires. I'm building a pro-street s-10 blazer that the owner wants a 20" wheel out back but looking for a deep lip. He's thinking 12-14" wide with hopefully 8-9" of lip. Your set-up looks close to that. TIA and welcome to the boards.

Re: Check out my 24" wheels, now what??
O.k no body has made mention of it but holy crap I see a 356 hiding in the garage. I looked at buying one of those on e-bay, it wasn't a ragtop though. I am a sucker for the 356 Coupes!!!!!!!

Re: Check out my 24" wheels, now what??
man, i love that willys!!! i have actually visited clayton customs near raleigh last year, i live about an hour from them. i was going to buy one of there bodies until i ran across my 69 fleetside that is my current project, but that willys is my next project. Thats a car you just don't see @ every show. Claytons had a real nice yellow one there when i was there. By the way, i am ordering that ART kit you have with the trailing arms, is it really a bolt in kit? any difficulties putting it in?

Re: Check out my 24" wheels, now what??
Hey Mark! Can we see some pics of your 64 chevelle! I used to own a 65 hardtop that was bagged and with 18 and 20's wheels. I loved that thing soooo much. I sold it to build my truck but i still have a 65 Chevelle SS Conv. in my backyard that i am going to build after i get done with my truck. I love the square-ish body style. Also that willys is SO BAD A$$. Your doing a hell of a job with your toys!

Re: Check out my 24" wheels, now what??
Josh, the wheels are budnik and I had them built. the backs are 20 x 16 and the fronts are 19x8. I have a little concern on the fronts and wish they had more backspace. I guess I will see when it comes together. This stuff gets so out of control man.
