Re: Project LEFTOVERS!!
No updates to report lately. I've just been driving and enjoying it. I'm still up in the air about a door logo. I've been working so much on my dually lately that I haven't done much to the others.
As far as mileage, I have done an official fuel mileage check, but my red '69 gets around 15-16 in town, and this one seems to do that good or a little better judging by how many gallons I use to drive it back and forth for a week. I drive it town to and from work. It doesn't like sustained Interstate speeds with 3.73's.

Re: Project LEFTOVERS!!
Still no real update - yet! - but I'm still driving 'er and enjoying it. This has turned out to be the best $1000 vehicle I've ever bought. Its been almost a year since I bought it, and my red '69 hasn't made it to paint yet. I decided before I I had it painted, that I wanted to put in a whole new drivetrain, so I have a new engine on the stand and new OD tranny waiting to go in.
As for this truck, I'm thinking about dropping it a little more. I know you 6 banger fans are gonna growl at me, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to replace the 250/3OTT/3.73 combo that's in it now with the 350/TH350/3.08 combo that is currently in my red truck. They actually get about the same mileage, but the red one is WAY more highway friendly. It runs a lot stronger too. I recentlylowered the red one, and I had both in out the in front yard yard and snapped a few pics.

Hey man, I totally understand. I don't know if I'm coming or going most of the time myself! I also want to get you guy's opinions on this door logo. Its a fictional business - but - I live on the Chattahoochee River (can see it from front porch), I am a machinist by trade, and I build street and race engines for several local drag racers and dirt trackers. This personalizes it pretty decently for me, but also leaves a generic enough name if I decide to sell it later. I have decided against using the Pool Guy logo for that reason (and the fact that some of the doctors and lawyers I do work for probably wouldn't think as highly as an shop truck in their driveway as we do!) Tell me what you think. I also considered River City Speed Shop, but the term "speed shop" is fairly overused on shop trucks.

"Speed machine" on an inline 6?
I'd love to have this truck's drivetrain for another project idea I have... Joking with a friend to get a LUV or S10, rip out it's piss-poor inline four, and toss an older inline 6 in. Something different for sure. Dig the blue brother. |

Yeah, if you look at the pics above beside my red truck, I painted those badboys white. The pic with the door logo is an old pic!

Re: Project LEFTOVERS!!
Well, I really thought about it, but I hate to be married to it. I'm thinking if I sell it later, an automotive-inspired logo would be more appealing. This struggle is biggest reason I haven't done anything yet!!

Re: Project LEFTOVERS!!
After almost a year of trying decide what to paint on it, Leftover is now sporting a door logo. It looks fairly decent I guess. My 18 mo old little boy doesn't know what to think about it. He keeps walking up pointing at it asking "What?" So I snapped a shot of him, and of course my little girl has have one, so she decided to model it for me. I am still going to do some touching up, and I'm going to revise a few of the letters to match a little better, but its a ragged old truck, so I guess it shouldn't be perfect!

Re: Project LEFTOVERS!!
I like it! The door logo completes the truck. I'm digging the white dog dish caps too.
That's a good value for a cheap beater truck, looks like you are getting your money's worth!

Re: Project LEFTOVERS!!
Well guys. due to the house fire we had in May, I am going to sell the shop truck. We have some pre existing issues with HVAC, and it will not pass current codes, so I am going to have some more money that I did not expect. I am am already coming out my pocket for about $7000 in upgrades, but this caught me by surprise, and I am just about tapped out for cash. The truck has new tires and it runs and drives good. I have about $1500 in it and that's what I need to get out of it. It needs some rust repair in the cowl area around the wipers to be a daily driver, but the cab is the worst part of it. It is a great beater, and I have really enjoyed it, and I hate to sell it.

Re: Project LEFTOVERS!!
Sometimes they come back...
I begrudgingly sold this truck in 2010 to fix my house after the fire. I know the guy that bought it from me, but after he sold it, I lost track of where it went. I got a call last week from a guy said he had found “one of those trucks you like” for sale a few towns over for $1000. Initially I wasn’t interested, but he says it was a short fleet, ran but had sitting fit a while, was lowered and had skinny and wide steelies. I decided to check it out, and ended up bringing her back home. It had been flat blacked at some point, but still runs good, and it’s really no worse shape than it was when I sold it. I’m not sure which direction I’m going to go with it, but at least I have the option!
