Re: 67 SWB 6 cyl cruiser
Not yet.
I hope to install the Dynomat and carpet next weekend, if not before. I need to get on it, all it needs is wiring and a radiator and it is close to being done. At the most another month of weekend work. I hate to say it, but it is all clean waiting on me, and I don't want to get it dirty yet.......

Re: 67 SWB 6 cyl cruiser
I would have to look, but maybe a grand. They are RT5s. Not a lot of selection in size, but the cost and what I was looking for it was close. If you can not find it let me know.

Re: 67 SWB 6 cyl cruiser
I have not decided to put AC in it yet.
I have all the brackets to mount it to the 6 cylinder, and all the hardware. For sure my 67 4x4 will have AC, so may drive it when it is really hot. It is really easy to work on with nothing in there but an alternator and PS pump........

Re: 67 SWB 6 cyl cruiser
Quick note, the color is Torch Red.
I have another car that color and wanted them to match. It tends to look Orange on some monitors. I has a tough time between the red and Hugger Orange.

Re: 67 SWB 6 cyl cruiser
Thanks for the compliments.
It seems easier to work on the other truck, because things are fitting better and not as tedious. I have tried to mount the P/S pump on this thing for sometime, and keep having issues. At least today I will have the radiator to test fit, and again this weekend I will try some new pulleys to see if I can line the P/S up. I have almost finished installing the sound deadener. This stuff is hard to work with. Do not remember the name, "RAM...", but is supposedly the best/cheapest on the market. I have been installing it indoors in about a 60-70 degree ambient. It sticks to everything, and can get all over your hands. And to think they recommended heating it up. I think I bought 65 sqr. ft. and it looks like there might be a little left over. Maybe enough to do a headliner if I had one. The entire cab from the windows down has been done, except the doors were done as shown. My thoughts were that it would be more comfortable to lay on than the bare steel, but you have to keep wiping it down with solvent since the tar backing can squeeze out. I have the interior carpet now, so might go ahead and install it so wiring will be real comfortable.

Re: 67 SWB 6 cyl cruiser
Finally back on the truck, trying to be able to drive it to my 50th BDay party.
It might have to limp down the road in first gear........ The one piece windows are not hard to install, but I would not recommend them for any truck that is driven down dirt roads or is subject to vibration. The windows really need to be up or down, no where in between. The glass is basically unsupported in the middle positions. For some of the fuzzies you need to 3M glue the fuzzies to the door frame. It does really look good though. I mounted a billett mirror to the front filler.

Re: 67 SWB 6 cyl cruiser
The seat on the driver's side had two springs broken.
I got 4 from LMC since I am doing 2 trucks, and replaced all the side springs, so the seat stays even. I will post seat picks as soon as they are mounted.

Re: 67 SWB 6 cyl cruiser
We have the truck 80% wired.
The lights are all working, stereo, etc. We will fire up the dash panel and steering column next. I used a Hot Rod Wires 18 circuit kit bought on the cheap. Big mistake, the instructions are very poor to non-existent. We would have been better off making our own. We used spade connections almost everywhere so we can easily remove the bed, steering column, dash, etc. I built a rear speaker panel out of MDF, carpeted it, and mounted Polk 6x9 in it.

Re: 67 SWB 6 cyl cruiser
Well it has been a couple of months and lots of delays, but slow progress. But, we had a local car show, and that kind of woke me up to knock it out. So with 5 days before the show, we went at it for 4 days straight.
As of today, the car is running fine and needs a front end alignment, and exhaust. We could not get that done Friday, so we did not drive it to the show. I will update the pics for finals once we get that done, and the truck washed and waxed for it's debut pictures. These are final under carriage shots. We have not wired the OD solenoid yet, not the kickdown circuit, so wires are hanging coiled in the front end picture. The rear under carriage picture shows the driver caliper missing. CPP supplied these parts, and this caliper was drilled and tapped for a 10mm banjo bolt, THEN retapped for a US thread, but not as deep. I can only guess someone did it then sent it back to CPP. So CPP has replaced it with another and everything is a go. I glass beaded the vents, drilled out the rivets, painted them semi gloss black, but in new sponge, then screwed them back together with #8x3/8 SS sheet metal screws. |

Re: 67 SWB 6 cyl cruiser
We laid the carpet and installed the reupholstered seat. I copied the seat design from another forum member, it is a very classy design, and clean. You have to wait until the debut shots to see it all together.
I have the same red for the visors, dash pad, and seat. |

Re: 67 SWB 6 cyl cruiser
We had lots of issues starting the truck. All of them were my errors. First we were not getting fuel. Since I am building two trucks at once, I assumed all Chevy fuel pumps mounted the same. WRONG!!!!!!
I would have bet $1,000 that I was correct. So to prove it to everyone, we went out and looked at my other 6 cylinder tuck, and I about SXXT! The 6 cylinder has the fuel pump upside down. Once flipped it pumped just like it was suppose to. Then we rebuilt the distributor, which I hoped not to. A few timing issues were resolved, since we had it 360 out of cycle, and it started up and idled like it had just gone to the store, blew us all away. Thes pics show my wife setting the timing, (she thinks she is on the right side), and then waiting for it to start with just the manifold. It actually sounded like a tractor it ran so smooth and quiet. Needless to say the rum flowed that afternoon until the bottle was empty..... |
