Then it makes sense. SB is in his early 20s or late teens, and i would assume that you are either retired, or have been thinking about it pretty hard.

Being in your 60's somewhat explains why you would not want an extra $300 a month payment. It also tells me that you probably don't need a vehicle for professional purposes (unless your a farmer, but even then appearances are secondary)

I don't want to fan a flame or anything, but if all you do with your truck is go to the feed store twice a week, with an occasional side trip to see the grand kids or go get a pouch of Red Man -- then you don't need a new vehicle because you're close to being "off the grid"
Being off the grid is enviable, but there's nothing wrong with driving a nice, new vehicle, there's plenty of guys your age who do.

I typically use 2-3 tanks of fuel a week with my occupation --- thats a lot of driving. It would be borderline irresponsible and a flagrant waste of money for me to use one of my old trucks for this and take 5 tanks a week in comparison. As well, my customer's would wonder if they could trust somebody so broke that they can't afford a "newer, better vehicle"--- yes , its a fact that some of us have to keep up appearances. Your old truck is like a comfortable old pair of jeans, but there are times when people have to wear a suit too.

Sam Walton was rich enough to be able to not give a flip, but many of us are not.

Does anyone have a website of where to get one or where to find more information on them?

Very cool cars.

I'm not trying to cause you any grief, but your assumption is wrong.
I'll have to work until I die, then my son is going to have to take over my job to pay my tab at the company store. Well, I may have exaggerated a bit there.
I'm not driving a whole lot now because work is dead. When I'm working steady, I use just about a tank a week commuting.

I understand what you're saying and I respect your opinions, particularly when it comes to "appearances" for customers.
Fortunately, I don't have that problem.
As for the times when people sometimes "have to wear a suit", I don't even own a tie.

I just love a good, open discourse.

Talk at ya later, my friend.

Not having that problem is a good thing, ----too many of us guys in our 30's, 40's and 50's have to bow down to the almighty dollar, in hopes of making it to the point that we dont have to anymore.
Customer service is not the same as kissing a---, but it can feel like it

I'd like to say "heck with it" someday, load up my K-5 and my dogs and move to a cabin in Colorado -- (i can dream -- with CO real estate prices, even "checking out" of society is a rich man's game )

Re: My New Ride

I dont undrstand the argument. I'd bet most that "Would not get in that car" would most likley hop on a Harley or crotch rocket. What is their crash rating at 70 mph?

Doug,
I do know how to grill, and I do have legs.
Does that count for anything?
