Re: How much are you paying for 67-72 truck registration?

Our antique tags and insurance is dirt cheap, too. Now,my Harley costs $175 every two years.Isn`t that high?Especially for something that you don`t use 1/2 the year and then only when you get spare time.Insurance companies classify them as recreational vehicles and my cost it about double what the tags cost.Cheap insurance/high registration. There`s low (as in about none) impact on the roads and they get better mileage than any econobox. You`d think the states would be encouraging us to ride motorcycles more if they truly had "green" concerns.Where else can you get 25 mpg from a 10 second machine?

from our state web site-
A Historical vehicle must be:
• 26 or more years old.
• Owned solely as a collector’s item
• Used only for events such as historical club activities, parades, and car shows.
Note: A designated historical vehicle cannot be used for routine transportation.

Here in Arkansas, as long as you have at least one vehicle with regular license and reg, you can have a vehicle older than 25 years registered as an antique and there are no limits on how much you can drive it.

You only get 25 mpg on a motorcycle?
Who cares if it is a 10 second machine. You risk your life every time you get on one and all for 25mpg? There are tons of econoboxes that get 30-40mpg. And you have a shot a living through an accident.

You know why doctors call them donorcycles? They are usually driven by healthy, 20-30 year old males who only have a head injury. Lots of good parts to share.

Re: How much are you paying for 67-72 truck registration?

for one, a harley isnt really meant for fuel mileage so 25mpg isnt bad from one.

and i paid 70 bucks to permanently redgister my nova, and 60ish each for my trucks and i'll never pat to licence them again.

Thanks for the advise Grandma. I`m a bit more than 30.A stock Harley gets 50mpg,BTW.
I`d rather die doing what I enjoy than any of the multitude of other options, which I`ve already had two instances out of my control that could have taken me.One was someone crossing into my lane causing a head-on and I was in a huge Dodge Power Wagon with 37" tires and a serious tube bumper w/brush guard which I made in heavier than store bought steel. The other was a 24' fall while working. And,I still do the same thing for a living 22 years later. But,I don`t have a death wish.I feel I`m in control when I ride and I expect idiot moves knowing all the excuses we hear when a fool kills a rider. When I ride,I ride to survive.I don`t have to ride it.I do because I like it.So,I`m all about what I`m doing while on it.Not like most people taking driving for granted.People need to take responsibility at the wheel.Motorcycles are not a new unexpected thing. They`ve actually been around as long as cars. And,they make alot of sense in the world today for a piece of personal transportation.Much more than single people driving in cars.
I don`t know where that crap came from.I hope this attitude isn`t reflected in driving actions and regaurd for motorcycle riders by such individuals that feel this way.Do you all know that more people die or are maimed by head trauma in cars than in motorcycles?Maybe car drivers should wear helmets.

Anyway,I think $175 for two years is ridiculous for a low-impact vehicle. My insurance is only twice what the tags are. It`s the insurance company`s expense when people get hurt on motorcycles, not the DMV`s.

Dude!!! $1,200 a year..... Is that for auto and home?

Actually that's not bad, we pay $200 a month with my car, the '67, wife's SUV and my daughter's car.... hers alone is $90 a month.

Hey, Houp,
That's auto only.
My home owner's is in the neighborhood of $1600.
But I do have high liability there also.
For personal property & such, I'm pretty much "self insured."
In other words, short of burning the place to the ground, "I eat it!"

You didn't miss anything, Houp.
Between the two, home owners and auto, it's in the neighborhood of $2.8-2.9K/yr.

I'm big on liability and pick up the rest on my own (basically self insured).

Re: How much are you paying for 67-72 truck registration?

$18 plus $10 vintage plate fee. AZ goes by age.

My state keeps talking about a permanent registration, but it hasn't happened yet.
