Thank you Spraybomb and French. It's been along time coming that for sure! I have a couple friends already asking. What are you going to do first when you get it home.. The answer is. I don't know yet. Never had to think about it..... LOL

Bringing Home the Money Bucket:

Today was the day I have been waiting for, for 367 days. They called Windshield guy is done. Its ready to be picked up!!!!!

Here is some Shots of bringing it home and it's first afternoon back in the shop.

30 Minuted of grunting and steering with a cresent wrench we got it on.



Got the New handles and NOS locks installed. But I found I was missing the Lock Pawls (didn't even know what they were called till i looked up the parts to see what was missing)



Got the latches installed



Wiper Motor Installed, and Wiper Linkage sanded and Painted. Can't find the bolts to install the Wiper Linkage yet.



Start Draggin out all the boxes of parts.

1 jump up off the tailgate. and they are down.



If I cant find it those boxes.. I'll have to dig through all this stuff too.


Amaizing trying to find all the stuff you aquired from 4 trucks, 3 houses, and 8 years of stacking it away.

First Day Home Cont.

Got the wife to prep the back of the grill for paint.


of course that means you need to tape off the front since its already polished up!


We Tried to clean em up.. Even though I got a large pile to choose from. Just not up to part with the rest of the truck. I think im going to order new ones.



Firewall is about to get cut... Man I hope I get this right!!!!!!!!



Grill is dry, Time to Get the tape off and might even have time to fit it. Make sure it fits right. Hey... its only 11pm

We also stopped by a LKQ U-Pull yard. Grabbed some clips I was missing and those pesky Lock Pawls that I couldn't find in any box. Didn't have the right tools with me to get the all the wiper linkage hardware I needed. I was able to fish out the Wiper Linkage Retainer Clip with a allen wrench I had in the car.

Met up with my cousin and looked over what I wanted to do for wiring. After getting home about 3 pm and going over all the wiring for a couple hours. I'm going inside. I'll just hit it hard tomorrow.

Got the Exhaust Header Wrap Finished up today.

Other things that got done today... I didn't get pictures of.

Got the throttle pedal mounting bolts drilled and tapped back out.
Trimmed the dash to get the guages to actually go in the dash like they are supposed to.

Got he hole for the column trimmed out so the swivel will work correctly.

Got the throttle pedal rod sanded painted and installed.

Column is mounted and Steering Shaft drilled for set screws and installed.

Then the wife wanted to get the floor mat out of her truck and check on the floorboard where the firewall had been leaking.... Bad news for the truck. Good news for her we got tools and metal to make a patch panel. So the rest of the afternoon was spent grinding, cutting, welding, not quite finished but we got it in. Just needs to be finish ground and painted.....

Well today I'm on the search for some more parts.. Need to get the Dynamat here before I can install the carpet kit.

Also, Need to figure out what I'm going to do for the electric fans as well. So far. 275 bux (ouch)

Ha,Ha, thats all behind me now.. I'm right where i been trying to get forever.. The rest is in my hands! I'm so excited after all that I can't even stand it. I even thought about removing the whole thread and starting over on a more positive note.

Congratulations on finally getting it back!!!! Now do her right and finish this beauty up in a fashionable amount of time. I want to see some nice wheels on her and some mud in all the wrong places within this next week.

Ok now for an update.

For the past couple weekends as well as a couple of weekdays after work; My cousin and I have been working on getting the truck wired up.

It turned out super clean. Ran it under the radiator and joined in at the rail from all then engine wiring and tail light wiring. at the left front rail. Ran around the inside of the drivers side fender and up through the fresh air vent. All hidden just how I wanted it.

After that. (or during) Got all the new lights and leses installed.





Now today. I got home a bit early from work. Started getting the Dynamat installed then I had to set the carpet and seat in there just to see how it all looked together.






Also pulled home a parts truck yesterday. Here's a link to the post of the beast.

As of right now, I did a few more things since these pictures were taken but no a whole lot.

I used the rest of my savings to get it to where it is now. I was laid off in march and am currently going back to college. So its just sitting there in the shop.

The only things left to do are:
Move the rear end fwd 2" (dont ask)
buy-install rear shocks
build front shock hoops
drivelines
wheels/tires
sends a few goodies from under the truck to the chrome shop. (crossover steering link, ubolts,)
come up with something for the mirrors.
get the door panels painted.

and iron out some bugs.

overall there isn't that much left. I am hoping to trip over a small chunck of cash to finish it up before next summer and meet up with some board memebers here in the Portland area.

Wow! I just looked at the last post I had on this build was over a year ago now. Talk about hitting a wall. It looks like I might get to use the tax returns this year to finish up that last short list.

I kinda been burned out on it since I have been working on it for 10 yrs now. But hey I got to get it on the road to see if I want to keep it or sell it and build something else.

With school taking up so much time and working part time. I haven't had time to work on the truck at all. Just trying to scrape the money together to finish 'er up. I been browsing the site today trying to get motivated again.

All I can say is WOW! I just found your thread and have to say that you have the patience of a saint. I hear you on the burned out thing, just keep looking at other people's trucks on here and get the inspiration back. You're way too close to give up on that AWESOME truck in your shop. I hope mine looks that good someday. I'm going to learn to do bodywork and paint and do my own work for the reason of not wanting to become homicidal I'm in the same boat as you, going back to college now to get re-edumacated in a different line of work.

Thanks Junkpyl! I have it moved in the "work on it" area in my shop. In other words by the roll up door. There is a list on the wall, and a few bucks in the bank. Just have to get the time now.

Seriously, this is a bad ass truck! I say you finish it and keep it! But that's just me. I've been through the body shop jail and it is a rough deal. That's why I'm going to try and paint my stuff if I can. It'll definitely be a learning curve that may end with the truck getting sprayed by a professional any way. Have you made any more progress on it?

Whatever happened to customer service? Anyone ever tell that guy that insurance work can be here today, gone tomorrow should you piss off an appraiser or claims specialist? Sad to hear you had to go through that, whew! I need a drink!

I couldn't agree more. I'm in the process of waiting 8 months + for a similar job to be finished. I feel your pain. I wish there was some way that shops would appreciate the kind of work that we're doing. Good luck with your project! You do great work!!
