Re: 71-72 ORIGINAL GM Grilles/still in box

I think it would show a little class of fellow members to keep their bitter remarks to themselves. After all, not one of you has lost any money here to this guy. So stop complaining. If he's lieing then he will be dealt with. I know if someone was giving me grief i'd probably not sell to them anyways. Or he might just take his business elsewhere and then everyone loses...

Re: 71-72 ORIGINAL GM Grilles/still in box

right where the eye of Ike hit. Hope his parts are still dusty!

35 miles east of Houston is not remote. There's 5 million people around Houston. Another 2 million in Dallas and another 2 million in San Antonio. All within about a 200 square mile area. Finding remote would be pretty hard.

Re: 71-72 ORIGINAL GM Grilles/still in box

I disagree, if you are selling something, come back and check for responses. After all, the customer always comes first because you are getting his business/money. He should have said I only check this site once a week so please be patient. Why do people always have to apologize for saying something negative? He listed the items, if he was busy he should have never started a thread. We are all busy but if I list something I will make an effort to respond. Of course this was before Ike hit so forget about communication from this guy for weeks.

Re: 71-72 ORIGINAL GM Grilles/still in box

I see where you're coming from 72Levi but I hardly believe that anybody watching or responding to a thread can be considered 'customers'. I mean take it for what it is, a forum. If it was an organized site for buying/selling (i.e. Ebay) it would be different.
I can understand the frustration though, kind of like Craigslist. I don't know if it happens to you, but more often than not, whether I'm buying or selling on Craigslist , the damn people never show up.
I just think people have other things going on in there life, and when dealing with someone through a computer, you have no idea what that person could be dealing with. Maybe there's a reason that after 14 years someone decides (or an event in that persons life decides for him/her) its time to sell those ten precious items I've been holding onto.

Just my thoughts.

When the dust settles and you can produce a photo of the outter/ insert grill
for a '71 Chevy grill I would like to be added to the list of purchasers.
Thanks.

Re: 71-72 ORIGINAL GM Grilles/still in box

Whatever! this thread has morphed into a forum on online selling etiquette so here is my .02 cents. I regret deleting my original post and I agree with 72Levi so don't talk to me about "showing class". If you post your product for sale, that makes you a businessman, regardless of scale or forum, that being said you should be attentive to your potential customers whether it be ebay, craigslist or this site. In this case I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt because he just got hit with a hurricane, but selling principles exist regardelss wherever you decide to post your wares. I'm not an owner or moderator of this website but it seems to me after being here a little while that you post your ad, your pics and you respond to potential buyers otherwise you run the risk of being labeled a scam artist. There are a ton of them on the internet, we have all run into them. I don't even want one of his grills so I'm definitely not "bitter" about not getting one. I just think that members should be extremely cautious of people that "will not open boxes" of items they are trying to sell.

Re: 71-72 ORIGINAL GM Grilles/still in box

i think something isnt right with this deal. he isnt showing the actions of someone acting in good faith. hurricane or not. ask yourself how you would be selling these parts, then look how he is doing it....something isnt right

Re: 71-72 ORIGINAL GM Grilles/still in box

Well, its been a month since his first post about the parts for sale.

And was given the benefit of the doubt since he is a "site supporter".

However, he has not taken any money from anyone.
Hence nobody has been "screwed".

But his lack of response to the items for sale VS. the interested prospective buyers has left a bad taste in some peoples mouth.

No real need to lock the thread.

But i am sure his lack of response will keep people from considering buying from him.

Re: 71-72 ORIGINAL GM Grilles/still in box

Ok Guys...This FS post was listed 8-21-08. It is possible that Ike has affected ELJR67...be that has it may I will pm ELJR67 asking for pics or maybe it might be best to close this thread and when ELJR67 is able to post pics then open a new FS post. We need to keep in mind that there are many people w/o electricity in and around Houston. It is obvious that there is much interest in these Grilles and I also realize if I was one interested in purchasing one of these NOS 71-72 Grilles--I also would be a little anxious. Lets be calm and give ELJR67 the benefit of the doubt and give him a little time to respond. Thanks and I appreciate your understanding.

Re: 71-72 ORIGINAL GM Grilles/still in box

the guy has not been on the site since 9/10 .. not to be morbid but for all ya'll know maybe he was run over by a bus.
simple solution, close the thread and dont do business with this individual without explanation and personal contacts.

this topic is getting old and annoying now
