Re: New 1957 Project
Paint is starting to go on! So far, the fenders and bed are painted. Should paint the cab next weekend and start assembling. Also I was able to install and run the fuel line.
Forgot to take pictures but, should get some this week.

Re: New 1957 Project
Everything is painted except for the cab. Hopefully that will be taken care of next week and I can start putting it together.
Now that I'm just about finished with the body, I decided to start working on the wiring. I'm putting in a American Autowire kit and so far, it seems like a pretty good kit. On to the pictures...

Truck is really looking great and I really like your choice of color. Care to share the source? I understand if you want to keep it to yourself, should be quite a standout in a sea of red and blue!

Re: New 1957 Project
Bob;
It is "Stealth Gray metallic" which is used on newer GMs. It does have a lot more clear on it than the factory paint, which I think makes a huge difference. Rob; It is from a late 80s Dodge pickup.

Re: New 1957 Project
Finally starting to re-assemble
Didn't get a whole lot done other than mounting the cab and messing around with the transmission hump to fit over the SM 465.

Re: New 1957 Project
Received my grill and trim. I'm pretty happy with the results but, for as much as I paid, it isn't exactly what I wanted.
As I was out of town most of last week, I only did a few more things like bleeding the clutch and installing the sending unit in the fuel tank. Having to figure out the measurements for the sending unit tasked my pitiful math skills...

That's the fastest chrome work I've ever seen. It takes us YEARS to get stuff back. Who did you use, and would you recommend them?

Re: New 1957 Project
I went to Performance Plating in Kansas city. They did a fair job but, were kind of pricey. I spent $1K to have everything done.

Re: New 1957 Project
Not too much done today. Was able to get my AC vents mounted and screwed up a few things on the way but, should be able to fix it. Finished up my fan shroud as well as finishing up the floor mount for the steering column.
Finally brought the cell phone so I could take some pictures.

Did you use the Brothers kit? How hard was it to do?
Thanks!

Re: New 1957 Project
The kit was from classic truck glass. It was pretty easy to do but, the instructions left a bit to be desired. Pretty happy with the kit but, I do probably need to replace a window regulator.

Re: New 1957 Project
Now for an update.
Most importantly, it is now running again! Except for some minor dressing up, the wiring harness is installed. All of the lights work. Also I'm about 90% complete with the AC install, just have to install one more line when I get a 180 degree fitting and finish tightening up the evaporator. As far as the body, the rear fenders, steps, grill, bumper and hood are all installed, just need to make a few minor adjustments. I've started with the bed wood by painting the bottom with POR-15 and hopefully the wife can stain and varnish it this week. I see me buying a fan shroud...Have not had much luck with the one I made.
