Re: 8 lug slots

most all truck stops have polishers on site. i dont know if there is one near you, but if it is a truck stop and they wash/detail , they polish.

16.5 tires are still pretty easy to find IMO.

I just got a set & will polish them myself. I cleaned them good with mag acid last week. Haven't started on the polishing yet (it's been cold & rainy the last few weekend here) but here's my plan:
Wet sand with 600 grit (maybe 400 in a few rough places), then go to 1200 grit, maybe some rubbing compound then use the Mother's polish. Most importantly is patience with lots of elbow grease!!!

agreed. But, aren't 16.5 most commonly found in popular off road tires? I think the problem is it's hard to find a decent stock sized 16.5 tire like a 9.50x16.5.

Re: 8 lug slots

Yeah,12.50 x 16.5s are the most available, then all the good of road treads in bigger sizes.9.50s are all you can find anymore for standard size.

I know this is an old post, but I finally got around to cleaning up my wheels.
So wanted to show them off since I put about 3 hours of work in each wheel.
I used acid, then wet sanded with 240 grit, then 600, 1000, 1200, & 1500. I decided to use the Mothers polish on just the rim bands since the centers were still a little rough in places. I'm tickled with the look & results!

I'm gonna leave the centers like they are. With a few more hours of wetsanding I could have them smooth enough to polish too, but I like this look...a little different

Re: 8 lug slots

pulltilbroke, I have two of the 8-lug 15" wheels identical to yours. I got them for my Longhorn trailer but am not sure now if I will use them since I have another set of 16.5's for the trailer as well. I got them because I thought they were rare. They won't fit the front of a disc brake 3/4 ton without considerable grinding but they fit fine on the rears. I have not tried them on the front of my drum equipped Longhorn yet.
