Man Keith.... that thing looks killer! It's looks like the Blazer is ready for a trip to GG's, well as soon as the TTII's arrive.

Re: Thorbecke Bros. tubular a-arms installed (with pics)
Well the gray centered TTII's are out. If you've been on the review board lately,... they aren't making them in 5x5 pattern anymore.
Member Crawdadfox,... hooked me up with a killer deal on a set thru his American Racing Wheel guy. I then get a call today from Crawdad saying they are no longer going to manufacture the 5x5 pattern with the gray center. Still chrome. Still polished. No more gray. WTF? So,... I've change plans, and I'm going with polished TTII's. If I knew a decent powdercoater locally,... I might want to attempt to have the centers powdercoated when they get here. Rant off. Here's a link to the review board: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=329277.

Bummer...
This would look GREAT imo, if they're still made. I like these also...And, they are still making them. Less cost, sinister look... |

Sorry if i missed it but how much lower were you able to drop with the tubular arms versus stock arms?

Re: Thorbecke Bros. tubular a-arms installed (with pics)
I'm not sure you can get any lower. Maybe an inch,... since you aren't running a cup in the lower arm.
I think the upper ball joint angle might be better suited for bags, (not as much binding at full dump), but the limiting factor is still the lower control arm u-bolts setting on the ground. They also have a lower plate to bolt the bag directly to.

Re: Thorbecke Bros. tubular a-arms installed (with pics)
That looks good and i really like the stance did you have to do anything to the rear suspension or is it just bagged and notched w/stock trailing arms

Re: Thorbecke Bros. tubular a-arms installed (with pics)
Just bags, 2" blocks, and a bolt in c-notch with a 1" bumpstop in the notch,... on stock trailing arms.

Re: Thorbecke Bros. tubular a-arms installed (with pics)
Well my wheels finally came in from American Racing. (almost 2 months)
I want to give members Crawdadfox and Hot Trux a BIG THANKS for hooking me up with a great deal on the wheels (Crawdadfox) and tires (hot trux). Today I got them mounted on the old blazer. Crawdad did alot of legwork to get these to me,... especially after AR decided they wouldn't make 5x5 "gray centered" TTII's anymore. (What the H#LL?) Hot Trux,... gave me a super deal on the Tires and took alot of his spare time to get them mounted and balanced for me after work. I owe these guys. The wheels are 20x8 (5.25" bs) and 20x9.5 (5.50" bs). Tires are 245/40-20 and 295/40-20 Firestone Firehawks. The fit is perfect. The lugnuts are "bullet" lugnuts from Newstalgia Wheels. The bigger diameter wheels, really limits how low I can go with the inner fenders still in. Before,...with the ralleys on,... I could lay the a-arms on the ground. Now they are nowhere close to touching the ground. This first picture is with the front tires about 1" off of the inner fenders and the rearend setting on the 1" bumpstops in the bolt in c-notch. (I may have to do some modifying to the inner fenders,... but I'm still going to run them).

Re: Thorbecke Bros. tubular a-arms installed (with pics)
Here's a look at how far the a-arms are from the ground. Right now I can get it an inch closer if I set the inner fenders on the tires.
On a side note,... this is my new floor jack from Sears. ($299) Most of my floor jacks are really old and well used. I decided to give myself a gift. ( I love buying new tools, etc.) This is the most expensive jack I have ever bought,... I guess because of the "coolness" in the design.

I never get over what a huge difference a simple wheel and tire change makes in the looks of a vehicle.....they look killer on there!

Re: Thorbecke Bros. tubular a-arms installed (with pics)
Man what a difference...It looks real nice sitting on those bad boys.
Get your welder guy to cut the top of wells off, raise them, weld, grind, putty, paint, dump. I know your thoughts on an 18/20 combo, but do you think the inner fender issues would be eliminated. Run say, a 245/45/18. I need to look at dia. differences first I guess. Very interesting... |

You know I'm NOT a fan of the 18/20 combo. 20/22 I could do,... but not 18/20. I just think these trucks need a 20 up front. IMO,... 18/20 don't look that good air'd up. Go for the 20/20 combo!

Nate,... as soon as I make some bumpstops for the front,... the ralleys will go back on so it can go to the alignment shop.
