Re: Part Time Pulling Truck Build

We only went for the show and cruise, the truck pulling was limited to the Diesel.

But it was packed and a great time, I would suggest it for anyone that has the time. Met Ghetto Luxury there (he was nice enought to save us a good parking spot) another example of why this site is so great. Bringing us truck people together!!!!

I had a couple of friends that pulled there. I plan on going to watch this year if at all possible.

Re: Part Time Pulling Truck Build

Durramaxx, the truck looks beautiful. I just came across your build and like what you have done. Have you pulled with it yet? I know you have gotten all kinds of advice on your build, so I''l throw in a little as well. I have used my 68 for pulling in the 5500 bls class the last 2 years and have a few seconds and 2 firsts. I think you'll have better pulls if you can move your hitch as others have mentioned. My pics are not the best and I'm sure my hitch is not either but it works pretty well. It connects just behind the cab. You will need to add some sort of traction bars to the front. I run my rear suspension bolted solid, I can undo it for the street. As others have stated you should go to the 465 tranny and run low 2ed. I run 454 gears and crank the big block to about 7200 rpm. I'm still trying to tame the last of my front bounce and working the wheel back and forth helps a little. My class wont allow weight on the front so you may not have too much of a bouncing problem.
Good luck and I'll be watching for ideas. Try the guys at truckpulls.com lots of help there just as on our 67-72 site.

Re: Part Time Pulling Truck Build

Never did pull with it last year, I really didn't get all the bugs worked out till early this year and still have a minor motor issue that just came back up last week. The motor has started throwing the power steering belt just above 2000 rpm. All the pullies appear in line and this just started so I have no idea what is going on. But none the less, I am hoping to get a couple hooks in this year but I also ended up buying a 1992 Chevy with Rockwell axles and 44'' tires to go play in the mud with so we will have to see how much time I have.

We are going to the big car show at Lake of the Ozarks the first week of May if anyone is in the area it is suppose to be a great show.

I will keep you guys posted if I get a hook or two in, for right now I will continue to do some more burnouts .......... after the ps belt issue ahahahha

Re: Part Time Pulling Truck Build

Hey I was at the Indy Jamboree last year, most likely saw your truck there! The diesel pulls were amazing, as were the mud drags and the show trucks. All around best truck event I've ever been too, even though I didn't get to see the tough trucks.

Nice build, would love to see it pull
