Re: My first old truck

Yeah, when I started this my wife was pregnant and now the baby is 3. They take my spare time when I am not at work and my truck gets what is left. But, like I said I have a little more free time and I plan on using it very wisely

Re: My first old truck

I had a little setback on my daily driver and have had to replace the transfer case 3 times in the last month and both front hubs. Now that all of that is done, im back to working on the truck. Today I got the dash and firewall sanded. The firewall will get another coat of primer and so will the dash. Hopefully all of that will take place on Monday and Wednesday it will be sanded again and painted Wednesday night. After the firewall is done the cab is going back on and I will start blocking the cab and getting it ready for final paint.

Re: My first old truck

Also got the firewall in final prime. Now its time to start wet sanding.....anyone wanna come help? I plan on getting all the wet sanding done tomorrow night and spraying the blue on the dash, firewall, interior etc. on Wednesday night. Hopefully by Thursday morning the majority of the cab will be done. I am waiting on the outside areas because of the stripes. I want everything on the frame to make sure it is perfectly straight before spraying ANY paint on the outside. I am actually starting to see progress and want to start taking off work to get things done.

Re: My first old truck

Yesterday was a productive day. Got a friend with a wrecker to tow the frame to the shop. Used the lift to ease the cab down and bolted it all back on. Then he brought it back home and I started installing the wiring harness again. The back tire on the passenger side is VERY bad. It has a blown belt and there is only about a 2 or 3 inch stripe from that tire that is touching the ground, that is why it looks like the cab is crooked.

Re: My first old truck

I need some ideas. I have all the braces for a wood floor and would like to sell my steel bed floor. My bed wood wont be ready for a few months but I need to get my bed together for paint. How do I need to shim up the bed sides?

Re: My first old truck

We had a major set back last night. In a moment of weakness I fell into peer pressure and pulled my glove, bat and cleats off the nail and suited up for a return to the diamond for another final tour. My first at bat I got a double and a limp, the limp turned to a hobble which turned into an embarrassing phone call for my wife to come get me. Popped a calf muscle, on the day before the final assembly of the truck and the drive to the body shop. The truck should be in the paint booth right now. Instead it is downstairs waiting on tranny linkage, and I am upstairs with an ice pack on my leg and an upcoming trip to the massage therapist who has promised me that I will be crying before I leave.

Re: My first old truck

Thanks Steel. I hitched a ride with my wife down to the shop tonight. We grabbed the hood hinges so when my probation is lifted after I walk my daughter in the beauty pageant tomorrow I can get back to work.

I have been going through some of my parts while I am home with nothing to do and I have enough stuff to build another truck to help offset the costs of this truck. My question for debate. Do I build a lwb 3/4 ton 4x4 or a swb bagged or what? Need some ideas peeps what will sell the best? I have a blue slew of parts and don't want to sit on them till they rust apart.
