Re: kyb shocks/ part numbers

ECE uses their own part number, but when I called I was told they use the same shocks for 2/4 all the way to 4/6 drops. I did alot of research and I ordered my KYB shocks from Summitt as they had the best price. I went with 344055 for the rear ($27.31 each) and 344068 on the front ($23.06 each). I am very happy. I cut 1 front coil and used Jeep TJ springs in the rear. I also relocated my rear shocks. Rides 10x better. Summitt will tell you the 344055 is for the rear of a Nissian Quest van but it is KYB part number that ECE sells with their own part number. I hope this helps.

Re: kyb shocks/ part numbers

If I am only doing lowered spindles for the front, do I need the lowered shocks? 3" drop spindles. I read somewhere on here the lowered shocks are only factored based on springs.

Re: kyb shocks/ part numbers

No, you wont need to unless your dropping with springs on front and rear with springs. The drop spindles use the same shock as stock, since the drop spindle doesnt change the height of the shock mounts.

Not real clear on the GR-2 front and rear part numbers. This will be for a bagged 70 C-10 with porterbuilt front control arms.

Re: kyb shocks/ part numbers

I know this is about KYB shocks but thought I would mention this for those of you that dont know. If you buy summit brand drop shocks they are actually Doetsch Tech shocks. I ran them on my bagged s10 a few yrs ago.

Re: kyb shocks/ part numbers

Do the kyb pt#S 344055 and 344068 also work for bagged vehicles (72 blazer)? (Rear notch and bags, front bagged with 3" drop spindle). Any part number on the summit brand shocks?

Re: kyb shocks/ part numbers

I purchased the 344068 kyb's and have a 2/4 drop. The shock was way too close to bottoming out, something like 1.5" of travel before hitting bottom. Double check your measurements. Im keeping the shocks but going to install a front shock relocator kit to gain a couple inches of travel back

Re: kyb shocks/ part numbers

I was researching shock info and I thought I'd bump this back up. I see a few people asking about it still and there is a lot of good info here.

Re: kyb shocks/ part numbers

What info did you need to give them in order to match them up? I'm going with a 2/4 coil drop on my '67 and was wondering what info I needed to have handy when I called.
Thanks.

Re: kyb shocks/ part numbers

Just a heads up, but the hardware that comes with the 344068 (front shock) is actually supposed to be used for the rear shocks (344055)..at least that's the way my boxes were packaged straight from kyb..took me a while to figure that out..duh

Re: kyb shocks/ part numbers

Bringing this great thread up with a question...

the 344068 shows it is the STOCK shock for a 67-72 truck...with NO drop...
How is that correct for someone running a 2 or 3" drop spring? Sure seems it reduces the travel...

and the 344055 isn't listed for the truck at all which might make sense because it would have shorter travel for the rear dropped???...stock shows 344085 for the rear...but that's for coil springs only...has no comparable spring listed for the rear with coils...maybe the 344055 is it then???

Will the KYB 344055 and 344068 shocks work with a bagged 64 with 2.5" drop spindles and a bolt in notch in the back? Thanks
