Re: My 67 Build Thread

Update:

I have a few photos of the "new" parts I got. As far as the truck goes, I have gotten quite a few things taken care of. I got my paperwork to go get it titled and registered. I hope to get that done tomorrow or monday. I got my tail lights working good. After alot of trouble shooting and rewiring. But...No reverse lights, Non working hazard switch, and the horn button isnt working now. Ill figure that out tomorrow. I got my bench seat installed and my seat belts installed. I put in my new visors and rear view mirror. I also installed a "new" turn signal switch from the extra column I got. A little more work and she will be road worthy. Once I get her registered, she's gonna be disassembled and parts will be ordered. Im just happy to have her running decent and almost road worthy for now.

Re: My 67 Build Thread

Your not going to believe this but I think this was my first 67!!! I sold it to a guy who came and got it on a roll back when I was in high school and picked up the truck I have now. Does the right rear fender have bondo in it?

What was the guys name that picked it up from you? I believe this truck has been a New Mexico truck for quite a while. I believe the NM plate that is on it expired in 2003. I don't think the right rear fender has bondo on it. But I could be wrong. Haven't begun any body work. It would be pretty cool if you were a previous owner though.

One speaker in the driver door + two speakers in the passenger door = better left-right sound balance in the drivers seat?

Re: My 67 Build Thread

Update:
I got a little work done this week. It was a lot of back and forth to the parts stores to find what I needed. I replaced the water pump, thermostat, had the water outlet sand blasted, radiator hoses, bypass hose, heater hoses and new radiator fluid. It sounds easy but I ran into a lot of issues with finding the right hoses and thermostat. I also replaced my heater core with a supposed good used one cause mine was no good. Well once I filled her up with radiator fluid, the heater core started leaking. So I just took one of the heater hoses and looped it to the other hoses connection. I dont need a heater now and the heater box is a rats nest that needs to be cleaned out. I hope looping the hose wont cause an issue. Anyways, I also pulled the inner fenders out. One is completely rusted on the front end and the other isn't quite as bad but it is no good.

Im gonna try to do the HEI distributor swap this weeked. Wish me luck. I pulled it from a newer chevy truck with an inline 6.

I know this is going slow, but I wanna get her reliable enough to get to the dmv and back. And be able to pick up some parts before the tear down.

Re: My 67 Build Thread

Cool, sounds like fun and looping the heater core lines won't hurt anything at all. Make sure you get rid of the resistor for your old distributor. HEI needs a full 12 volts.

Re: My 67 Build Thread

lmao, I don't about who's subscribed but I like what you're doing.

Check the hot wire before you hook it up to the HEI. If it has a resistor inline, take it out. Or just check to see if it's throwing a full 12 volts.

Re: My 67 Build Thread

Update:

So I got the HEI swap done. It wasn't too bad and a major improvement. However, I have a ticking sounds now that sounds like its coming from the top end. Maybe just need to adjust the lifters? But it does run better.

I also replaced the fuel line from the fuel pump to the carb, cause it looked like crap and had some bad bends in it.

Here are some pics. Notice the "new" rallys and "new" bench with 67 belts.
