Re: Show me your exhaust
I have block hugger headers and my muffler guy ran pipes on outside of frame and turn down behind tire like old camaros use to be. He put flowmasters under bed I have no interior roar. I told him to tuck as good as he could and he done a awesome job. Before I had big headers and they hanged down to low eye sore to me.will post pics later thanks

Re: Show me your exhaust
I wanted to run the tailpipes out the back but becasue its lowered a bunch I had trouble until I tried running the tailpipes under instead of over the rear end. The pipea are above the lower shock mounts and they clear everything nicely. Even when the truck is jacked up in full droop the pipes don't interfere anywhere.
Headers to pipes that go through the crossmember, mufflers under the bed between frame and trailing arms. under the rear and back up to bumper height.

Re: Show me your exhaust
Sorry but only pics I still have are from after the wrieck(May '09) '66 GMC w/250cid/4spd. Headman header with 2 straight pipes(no mufflers) and 45 degree'd out in front of left rear wheel. Was real cheap and sounded cool!

Re: Show me your exhaust
The Po put on some kind of home made set up with 5 inch pipe pounded down to fit on the end of a cut out muffler. It sounded awesome but was way too loud and the droan was horrible. I put on some cheap mufflers for now till I can afford some Magnaflows.

Re: Show me your exhaust
I've been searching the forums and can't find anyone who has run the exhaust from the stock exhaust manifold to the rear of the front tire and route the pipe and muffler on the outside of the frame.
I have a 63 with PB Extreme dropmember up front with the Extreme 3 out back..yes it lays frame. I just rebuilt the little 283 with 3 -2 barrels and now I'm looking at exhaust routing options. It looks like you posted a pic of your truck a few years ago and described that you ran your exhaust on the outside of the frame. By chance do you have any pics? I'd like to know if it's possible with a truck that lays the frame. I want to run 2" pipes so in my opinion it should work. Since my welder is out of service I can't do anything except research Any pics, or advice would be appreciated. TIA.. |
