Re: My 1968 50th anniversary Stepside's home
I'm hoping to find a rear fender without the cutout to replace that one. I ordered a 2/4 drop today to put on it. That's about all I have planned for now.

Re: My 1968 50th anniversary Stepside's home
The side-mounted spare seems to be a love it or hate it thing with most people on stepsides.
I had to have a stepside, when I was searching for my truck, but it had to have a sidemount spare. I even had a tire-mount fender & bracket spotted, on a junkyard special, just in case the truck I ended up with was one without the sidemount. Sidemounts forever !!!!! |

Buy another fender and just change back and forth as it suits you!

That's a good solution. More work than most people would want to do, but a good idea.

Re: My 1968 50th anniversary Stepside's home
That's what I'm going to do. Just like the radio delete, it came without a radio so I have another cowl to use. I'm going to put a drop of 2/4 with springs. Anything I do will be easy returned to original. I'll be keeping all the stuff I take off of it.

Re: My 1968 50th anniversary Stepside's home
VERY NICE!
I vote for not painting it (but it is your truck). I would even go as far as painting the tailgate the gold again & then put a flat clear on it to match the rest.

Re: My 1968 50th anniversary Stepside's home
I'm still around guys, but I was working 7 days a week for the last 9 months. Finally got back to 5 days 2 weeks ago. I did put the 2/4 drop, but I don't have pics yet. As soon as spring gets here I'll take some pics and post them.

Re: My 1968 50th anniversary Stepside's home
Gotta bring this back TTT. I've got a 68 longbed stepside that I just got a set of buddy buckets for. The buckets looked gold in the garage light last night and I started to think about making mine a 50th tribute truck.
