Perfect timing! haha then again I could just go outside and spend an hour to fix this
Consider an MSD digital E-curve billet distributor. It has electronic and vacuum advance, and all timing curves are set with 2 dials. It has a built in rev-limiter too. And it's tiny.

I don't think you understand... What you are doing is moving the position of #1 on the distributor cap, so you can set your timing without the vacuum can hitting the intake.

If you need more advance, move the plugs on the cap one spot to the left.

Well I've moved them all over one and presto no more problem had it timed in a jiffy. Runs worlds better no hesitation, and full throttle is unleashed! Definetley happy with this engine.

Re: Year One Crate Motor

Any issues with accessories or exhaust hook up on that motor?

You can use any traditional accessories and the exhaust ports are the same. They're a tiny bit higher on the vortec heads, but not enough to cause issues.

Re: Year One Crate Motor

sounds pretty mean for a 350... more in the 383 range in power too... nice price.

I'll have to keep that engine in mind...

Re: Year One Crate Motor

Well every thing has been running good! Ever since I fixed my timing issue this runs like a bat outta hell, nice exhaust note too. Lots of passing power plenty fast, gonna need some bigger tires and a posi haha.
But yeah everything hooked up just fine I didn't have any problems bolting on accesories (the A/c did leave the engine bay different head bolt pattern Vortecs) So yeah I'm happy with it! Carb is a bit small edel 1405 600CFM they recomend a holley 750CFM and 93 octane gas but it's been running fine on 91 even on the 100 Degree days, I'll have to get some drive by videos or something up here soon

Re: Year One Crate Motor

Well the motor is in one piece on its way back to Yearone. I broke a rocker arm stud about 2 weeks ago pulling away from a stoplight. I was doing about 25mph in 3rd when it happened too. Was bummed, BUT the warranty is great, yearone said just pull it and they'll take care of the rest and they have stood by their warranty. It is being shipped back free of charge and they will either repair mine or have a brand new one sent to me with a renewed warranty. Of all parts to break, a rocker arm stud! It's not even a moving part. Otherwise everything still looked super clean and brand new. Pity :/
