Re: My 69 lonbed
I love the project, I don't know if this helps but the firewall on my 67 is smooth and I relocated the master under the dash, wilwood makes a side mount for under the dash really keeps the frame and fire wall clean. You most likly already know this but hope it helps. Keep up the great work

Re: My 69 lonbed
yeah i'll probably keep the master on the firewall just to ease the headache, im planning on using a hydroboost set up. there's very little modification on the mounting plate and the plunger only needs to be stretched 1". at least thats the plan for now. no work this weekend though... need to change rear main on my s10. its close to a c10 only in the title ha ha

Re: My 69 lonbed
so i worked on my 2002 s10 4x4 zr2 this weekend. this just reminded me why i like old trucks. i needed to change my front seal. come to find out the front seal is part of the front cover. had to replace whole cover. cover has lip on bottom. need to remove oil pan. to remove oil pan you need to pull of front wheels, axles, entire front differential and remove bolts front steering box. plus remove battery, battery tray and vaccuum actuator. what a pain. also changed timing chain, water pump, belt, coolant and oil.
sorry for the long post but be happy for all your old truck builds... new crap sucks

Re: My 69 lonbed
Some of the most unreal cars and trucks take years to build. Take your time the end result will be worth it.

Re: My 69 lonbed
Did that work for you? I'm sure there are a ton of things you can be doing like cleaning parts, sourcing cheap deals on parts, and finalizing plans while you have down time. Is everything prepped for paint? Got any patch panels to make or weld on? Do the cheap/free/manual labor things while you wait for more money to shake out of the money tree...

Re: My 69 lonbed
Looks good. Nice job on the glass. With the cowl, I am not running the sprayers. So those holes went away. THe mounting holes also are shaved. The biggest thing is to be sure to weld SLOWLY with lots of time in between for the metal to cool and switch back and forth from one side to the other. IF not, it WILL warp on you. And without the mounting holes, you won't be able to screw it down if it warps.

Re: My 69 lonbed
so you cover the mount holes and just use all the remaining holes?

Re: My 69 lonbed
That's what we did...don't know any other way to do it honestly....THe only other way we thought was to screw in the panel and then grind off the screws and fill weld and grind them flush. But you'd never get the cowl off again if you did that.
