Re: Cutting holes in a perfectly good hood

That is awsome, I wish that I could do body work like that. You know what would make it look even better? if you installed 3 more dummy carbs on the other side just for show even if they are just part of the hood. Looks great thou.

Re: Cutting holes in a perfectly good hood

Note to self: Loctite the cones holding the air cleaners on.

I lost one on Hwy 92 up in the hills where there's no place to stop. It was just rolling around on the hood like one of those marble maze games until I finally lost it on a curve. So then I had to watch the air cleaner bounce around on the threads, just waiting for it to fly off. It didn't. I got home, pulled out a spare cone nut, and added a few drops of Loctite to each.

Re: Cutting holes in a perfectly good hood

Got a bracket made to mount the Edelbrock fuel block. You can barely see the bracket... on one end it is shaped like the carb base, and so is mounted under the center carb. On the other end, it's got provisions for the fuel block itself. I've started running fuel lines, but need to resolve a fitting issue for the pressure gauge that goes in the front slot before I move the fuel feed from the rear carb to the block itself.

Re: Cutting holes in a perfectly good hood

Absolutly sick setup. Wish it was a true three-duece, but maybe another time with some more scratch.

Love the 3 spikes out the hood! And with it being off set it's a nice unique little look.

I'm satisfied with the performance of the single on truck... the other hoopty ride just got one of these, so I get my speed fix there. Still working out the tuning, but I expect to see 500+ at the wheels when spraying methanol. Oh, and it's a 4-banger that gets 27 mpg... better than the truck

I'm going with the sake of just having a functional three-deuce. Still a kick ass arrangement though. Can't wait to see the camaro bumper on it.. How's that coming?

Love the six. I'd like to see them more often. Any idea what horsepower you have?

You have consistantly chosen outstanding mods for this truck. Can't wait to see what's next!

Well, the rings have had about 40 years to "get seated in," so I'm figuring about 75 at the flywheel.

It's actually about time for a rebuild. I'm trying to track down a good shop to do a highly reliable stock-type build... maybe lump head inserts and a more effective cam, but no hot rod planned.

Re: Cutting holes in a perfectly good hood

Personally, I think you need to make it function. The way it is now to me it is a little cheesy because it is going to be an attention getter but it doesn't actually work. There is no reason for it not to work since you went through the trouble. You can set it up so it works off of the center carb till you reach like 70% throttle and then the outers come in like a 4v carb. Then your fuel consumption will be the same and drivability will be the same. You just need to make a new billet adaptor with runners and make it from 3 pieces that would bolt together

Re: Cutting holes in a perfectly good hood

140 in my old firebird was nothing to brag about (good old 12 seconds to 60), so I can't imagine it being any quicker in a much heavier steel brick

I'm normally all about making everything function but I have to say,,,,,,functional or not this is simply brilliant!!! You have pulled off, something that could have gone horribly wrong, extremely well.
