Re: John's 87 S10 - Epilepsy build up

I have been working on other projects to pay the bills for about a month, but I have been back on this thing for a few days now. Wiring is finished, and built the exhaust system today, so I will have some pictures tonight. Right now I need to get ready for league night.

Re: John's 87 S10 - Epilepsy build up

Screw it I got a minute.

I built the exhaust system for Johns truck today. Stock was 2" to the cat and then 2.25" after that. I decided to step the whole thing up to 2.50" tube with all mandrel bends, a high flow Magnaflow cat, and a Dynomax Thrush welded muffler, which is similar to a Flowmaster design. It is all TIG welded aside from the hangers and where it meets the 2" - 2.50" reducer right at the manifold. At no point does any of it hang below the frame. The closest part is when it crosses over, where it has about 1/4" of room above and below the tube.

Here is a picture of the back aired out. This is as low as it goes with the bed bolted on and the wheel wells uncut. There is still about 1/2" 1" between the axle and the bump stops, so I need to cut the fenderwells up about 2 inches. so they clear in any circumstance. The last picture is if a box I made to hold the air gauges and switches for the pressure switch and manually bypassing the lights. I figure since the gauges point right up at you, lights might be annoying at times.

It needs a really good wash now. There was a lot of crap under the bed liner that got on everything.

Re: John's 87 S10 - Epilepsy build up

Here are the nearly finished pictures of John's truck. I had to move it out to get the VW in to work on it. He brought by a battery so I can start it, and finish up the little stuff and the stereo now.

Obviously cutting the inner fenders more is one of those little things I need to take care of.

Yes, as I said above that's still one of the little things I need to take care of when it comes back into the shop.

Wow, this is a great build! What have you done to the front? I have a 91 that I have fixed up with my son, but we have some clearance problems on the front, it actually broke out the air conditioning box and fan. I would like it too be low, but it needs to function, and on a realistic budget.

The front is really basic, just dehumped lower arms and pie cut upper arms. The firewall and the AC box hit the tires though. It holds it up about a half inch. I haven't figured out what I am doing about it yet.

Ok, I'm sorry too say, I don't know what dehumping the lower arms is, and I'm not familiar with a pie cut on the upper arms. Does this move the wheels inboard? Thanks S

Re: John's 87 S10 - Epilepsy build up

No it just allows the spindle to move up further without the upper ball joints binding, and without the lower arm hitting the frame.
