Your truck is looking really good! How is your head job holding up? I'm assuming it runs much better? Keep the good pics coming.

Re: '71 Chevy 1/2 4x4
It's holding up well I think. But I think there might be a tick coming from somewhere on that side. It's either a valve or the exhaust that's doing it. I used the same old crusty gasket for the collector when I put it back in. I'm going to try to look at it this weekend.

Re: '71 Chevy 1/2 4x4
I haven't been able to figure out my gauge lights so I decided to do something about it. I went to Auto Zone and I got some LED light strips with a total of six LED's on them each and put it in the gauge cluster. I really like how it turned out but it looks kinda high techish I think.

Re: '71 Chevy 1/2 4x4
brianthelion02- Thanks for the info. I'm going to try to rebuild it some time soon.
mcbassin- Thanks. It wasn't that hard to do. Mostly time consuming. I think it took me 3 hours start to finish. I took the gauge cluster apart and cleaned it up a bit and put the lights where I wanted them. They came with double sided 3M tape. Pretty simple for the most part.

Re: '71 Chevy 1/2 4x4
I've been missing an engine mount bolt on the left side for a while and oldiron was gracious enough to invite me over to use his lift. I went over to oldiron's house today and helped with some wiring on his truck and then we put my truck on the lift and got the bolt in. The bolt hole was already lined up, I got off easy with this one. Now I'm not so scared to open it up a little bit since I got the bolt in. I also recently put a Q-Jet in the truck and got it running real good.
While I was there I thought it would be cool to get a couple of pix of our trucks.

Re: '71 Chevy 1/2 4x4
I went to the local pull a part and was looking for a few things. The only thing I found that I was looking for was a set of mirrors. I'm not gonna tell you what I got them off of, but I think they look alright.

Re: '71 Chevy 1/2 4x4
Just checked out your thread.. Nice truck! I want a 4x4 next time around. I am hooked on these trucks (GM in general) and love the look of the 4x4's. Keep it up! I like the gauge lights, too..

Re: '71 Chevy 1/2 4x4
I've been wanting a tach for a while now, but I just didn't want to pay $25+ for one. So at the Corvette and performance swap meet I stumbled across this deal. $1; that's right one dollar for this tach. He didn't know if it worked or not, so I took the gamble for a buck. Today I decided to try to hook it up. I went to Napa and spent another $1.84 for a hose clamp. Now I'm in $2.84 hoping it's going to work. Well, it did. Now I have a tach for my truck that cost me a whopping $2.84 that's what I'm talkin' about!

Re: '71 Chevy 1/2 4x4
I got tired of looking at the gapping hole in the side of my bed, as you can see in some of my pictures, and I did something about it. I patched it up and filled it in, but since I'm really good at remembering to take pictures when I'm almost finished and none during all I have to show is the finished product. Since it was to late to take any decent pictures when I finished earlier tonight, I will take and post some tomorrow; maybe. Might have to do it on monday.

you're gonna have to spill about the mirrors. If they were from a ford, I think your first ones were too. The new ones look really good. How is the passenger mirror? Is it usable?

Alright; ya got me. They are off a F@&d truck. 70's I think. As far as the passengers side, I'm not sure because I still haven't adjusted it yet. I've been meaning to, but just haven't.
