Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
^^^That seat looks fantastic!
Don't mean to hijack, but Pullin81, how tall are you...i.e. are you crammed under the steering wheel? |

Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
ya actually i am a little close to the steering wheel because of the sub box behind the seat plus when you pu them steering wheels on with the adapter ...but with the subs out its very comfortable and im 6'1"...i had a guy in town embroider the OldSchool GMC logos in the head rests just to make em my own

Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
Currently working on the bed, getting it ready for paint. Unfortunately, I have been very busy with other projects so I have not put too much time in on it over the past few months.

Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
I had it running with all parts connected & laying on the garage floor. I pretty much have the entire wiring harness. Putting it together is easy, routing the wiring neatly will be the biggest challenge.
I have to get the bed mounted first, then align the cab properly. After this, I can run the wires through the truck once everything is locked in final position. Things are very tight in places & do not want to route wires, then pinch them moving the body around, or pull things too tightly. Just a few wires to connect...... Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
Danger that's a lot of wire. How did the down pipe crime the Turbo fit? Did you have to move the motor foreward to clear The firewall?

Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
Actually the up pipes from the manifolds to turbo are closer to the firewall than the pipe out of the turbo.
Yes it is a lot if wires, but I will have everything working like the donor '05 truck. I'm really anxious to get it together, but other work related projects have me held up. The bed should be painted shortly. Put a 8hr day in block sanding the bed sides last weekend. Will do some final work tomorrow & hope it sees paint this week. |

Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
Very cool build Lonnie! You won't be disappointed at all. I'm trying to find a wrecked duramax now for a friend. He wants to put one in his 69 camaro.

Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
Man that is one sweet bed! Is it all new panels? Or did you score a super straight bed with a non beat to death floor?

All original panels with low miles & damage free other than a few bed floor dings that were pounded out. I was going to fill the factory spot welds, but I thought the factory look showed how original it was. |

Re: '82 Duramax diesel conversion
Thanks... progress has been at a standstill for a few months.
Got sidetracked on my Camaro, which is finally back together. Now I can get back on the truck. Hope to make a lot of progress by spring. |
