Currently there are no gas struts or prop rod supplied with the kit. This will be an option in the near future.
hmm gas struts in near future? Whats near future 2 weeks They look like they will clear a triplus cowl hood. i may go with a stock one anyway.

Cannot confirm the "two weeks" time-line normally associated with me!

What I can tell you is this:

The truck I finished fine-tuning the hinge design on will be going back together here shortly, and then I will finish the strut option for the hinges. Look for the possibility of some inner fender options as well.

The hinge does clear the box, but there is clearance issues with the fresh air vent door inside the cowl.

I wouldn't be too concerned about any damage to the exterior paint on the hood. The support brace is nearly an inch thick.

Don't know how I would rate it as far as being "important".... but I personally wouldn't think twice about removing the door. It has the same function as a modern car's "vent air" vs. "re-circulated air". Without the door, you would always have fresh (outside) air flowing through the A/C system.

Re: Porterbuilt hood hinges?

Here's the special on the hood hinges we are running...

Porterbuilt Street Rods 67-72 Hood Hinge Relocation Kit
End of the Year Special:
$200 Shipped inside the Continental United States (all others $199 plus shipping)

Porterbuilt Stree Rods has developed a clean, simple, effective, and AFFORDABLE hood hinge relocation system for the 67-72 C10, C20, and C30 series trucks. This hinge system is ideal for extremely lowered applications, where the factory hinges were no longer compatible. This hood hinge system utilizes a bolt-in, cowl-mounted hinge and pocket system. The hood mounting portion provides a weld-on mounting pad that is welded to the underhood’s support frame, and then bolt’s to the hinges pivot arm with adjustability for hood alignment. This is a clean and simple system that can be easily installed, and allows adequate hood to cowl panel clearances when opened.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

I agree, but I do like the fact that Nathan tries to cater to our needs on here. I don't know any other vendor that really listens to our needs and goes out and makes it happen, but like you said he will probably regret that last statement cause we will be all over him about them

My neighbor couldn't believe I cut up a "perfectly good hood". Made the mock-up a one man job!

Re: Porterbuilt hood hinges?

Looking good Nate! I have a few questions... I noticed you used "part of a hood" for the hinge mock up; now once a complete hood is attached would the hinges still hold up and not be too flimsy? Also I noticed the hinges having hood forward and back adjustment, but how about up and down? Or did you design them for the hood and cowl to be even where you bolt them using your templates?
