Re: 2WD'ers: How does your truck handle in the snow?

have a 99 F150

put on 4 cheap Firestone Winterforce snow tires and 300 lbs in the bed, the difference is like night and day

worked great for the foot of snow we had during christmas

I can't get out of my own driveway that's moist. Traction is a problem when you have power and no posi. Too dangerous to drive. My is a garage queen when the streets are moist and wet.

Do I need a set of 4 snow tires or could I get away with just two on the rear wheels?

It depends on what you want to do with your truck. I just put on two new all season tires on my truck rear wheels. I am still running the all season tires on the front that were there. Now, if you are going to go to a snow tread on the rear and not put the same type or bias type tire on the front, then you are asking for some problems. Do NOT mix non-radial tires with a radial tire on the opposite end of the vehicle.

Keep the profiles basically the same or you can loose control of the vehicle.

Re: 2WD'ers: How does your truck handle in the snow?

You want a bad expireance driving in the snow try my truck, its built for off road and has a heavy front driveshaft so I don't like to put it in 4wd on the road.

Tires are 19.5" wide has no bed at all gas tank is right behind the cab there is NO weight over the rear tires. It brings the suck in rear wheel drive.

ok thats a lie i got stuck yesterday, we had 6 inches of snow the one wheel wonder dose it again. i melted all the ice from 1 side by droping it in gear and leting the clutch out but when that side got traction the other side went to spining so i had 2 get pulled out

the truth of the story is like .5-2 inches my truck dose fine, 6 inches not so good

I used to only run snows on the back. It does sure help, but wayy better with all four

With having a snows on the front, the truck actually goes around a corner when you turn the wheel. Much better than with the Dueller A/Ts I used to run on it in the winter.
