Re: Show your motor...
motor in the El Camino I used to have
'71 350, .030 over, 9:1, vortec heads, used to look really wicked with the victor intake and Demon carb. It caught on fire, and melted the carb At least it was a good excuse to repaint the car

Re: Show your motor...
Hey guys. I have done a few car and engine builds. I have had 2 '67 Camaros, 1 '70 Camaro, and a '69 Burb.
None of them were ever show quality or complete. Here is something completely different from what i have had in the past and probable different from what any of you guys have. This is my 1990 Nissan 180sx. For those of you guys that don't know, The Nissan 240sx was brought to the US with a non-turbo 2.4L truck motor. The Nissan that they kept in Japan was a turbo 1.8L motor and later a 2.0L motor called the sr20det. They never brought this motor to the US. They were the work horse for Nissan and was used in several of their vehicles. Later some import Gear Heads started importing these to the US. So, here is my 2.0L sr20det motor before I rebuilt it. Here is the rebuilt heads with Stainless Steele valves, Titanium Retainers and springs. Here is my rebuilt block with JE pistons and Eagle rods. Upgraded turbo gt2871r with tubular exhaust. Finally my complete engine with "Crinkle Red" valve covers. This engine was tuned on a Mustang Dyno and put down 388 HP at the rear wheels. The motor is in a 2600 lb car.

Re: Show your motor...
I love the new LS motors, mine is an 01 6.0 with 80k on it and trying to get the 4l80 to work properly. If not, I will throw in a TH400.

Re: Show your motor...
sport/truck: the black with flames valve covers
bobbo: camshaft gear drive 1971 gmc shorty: classic hot rod valve covers all those with bad boy stroker small blocks (383/388/406, etc) 6d8 c10: cool engine, but a built up 2.4 would have been even hotter. no replacement for displacement, especially when you are running 4 bangers. i am planning to go to a mitsubishi 2.4 I4 or 3.8 v6 on my anemic 2.0 87 ram 50. as for me. i have the original 74,000 mile 307 and 3 on the tree in my 72 burb 3/4 ton 2wd. plans initially call for swapping out the rochester 2 barrel for a q-jet, followed by a swap to a 406sbc that my dad bought a few years. a full roller valvetrain, camshaft gear drive and lmc magnaflow stainless x pipe dual exhaust hooked to the stock ram horns are on the drawing board. durability and low end performance will be better in my application than a high hp race motor. it also won't have the lovely bling many of you guys are running 'cause i want it to look mostly stock and need to budget some money for other projects. |

Just a big heavy six cylinder. Turbo'd, intercooled, and fuel injected. Runs on diesel too.
