Re: Project '67 GMC "AO" (All Original)
It cost me $150 for the machinist to recondition the whole head, pressure test, surfacing, grinding the valve seats, new oil/coolant seals, reconditioning the springs etc. That included him cleaning it in the caustic acid as well. The new valves cost me about $40 from titanengines.com Thats all intake & exhaust.

Re: Project '67 GMC "AO" (All Original)
Tonight I got all the pistons in, crank was put in last Saturday. ALL oil clearances were perfect and all the same so apparently I did something correct. The cylinder head should be on tomorrow.

Looking great man. I love the pics cuz that's my engine too. Only when I rebuilt mine I couldn't take it out of the truck. I will if there is a next time. Keep up the good work!

Re: Project '67 GMC "AO" (All Original)
Here are some pic's of paint. They've done the firewall & inside completely. The inner fenders have been painted, theres just plenty of sanding dust on them lol. Trust me, these pictures DO NOT do justice to the green. It was really dark in there and the flash on the crappy camera I had to use for this didn't go well, especially for the dash pic.

Lol I sure hope so, the title is kinda incorrect now lol. It's not exactly "ALL" original.

Re: Project '67 GMC "AO" (All Original)
Just found this thread, and it is looking great! I'm really liking how much effort you're puttin in to it! Also like the fact that you're keeping it original. Can't wait to see it done!

Man that sure is a pertty tranny. I'm jealous because mine (although it works great!) looks terrible.

Re: Project '67 GMC "AO" (All Original)
The bearings in it needed replacing bad, one had a dent in it, not sure if I put it in there removing it or it was already there, but anyway the tranny was making some horrible noises.

Re: Project '67 GMC "AO" (All Original)
Looking good bud. I'm pulling my 250 L6 today to rebuild. My question to you is where did you bolt the engine lift to your engine?
I rebuilt mine in the truck about 2 months ago and I didn't do a very good job so I'm pulling it today. I will post pics later. |

Re: Project '67 GMC "AO" (All Original)
Sorry for not replying the other day sonicman, I've had a hectic week. I had exams this week and had all four wisdom teeth pulled, (I'm 17).
Anyway, I hooked the chain the one of the rear trans to engine bolts and to the front intake clamp bolt. Help pretty well, although I would advise some safety catches. I've gotten the truck back from paint, engine might go in this saturday!
