Re: Finally my build thread is here! Lots of pics!
Got the motor and a newly rebuilt 700r4 Stage II trans on the frame this weekend!! Finally!! Im excited!!
There's also a couple of shots of the newly black powder coated CPP motor mounts too, they looks so sweet! especially compared to the ones I got from Performance Online, those are garbage!

Re: Finally my build thread is here! Lots of pics!
wow, looks great! I agree, those motor mounts look killer. What kind of shifter you goin with for the 700R4? Floor - column - brand name, etc? (am thinkin of doing similar)

Re: Finally my build thread is here! Lots of pics!
just an FYI, the CPP perches work excellent for SBC engines with the typical header/ex manifold that exits center middle. However the POL mounts will also work for SBC and LSx motors that the headers/ex manifolds exit to the rear. Tis was my experience at least.

WHEELS + HEADERS + SWAY BAY = PROGRESS!!
She's moving along slowly but surely! Got a set of Hedman headers (Part # 69096) installed, brand new 20" KMC Surge Wheels and 275/45 tires, I think they look sweet! The sway bar is from CPP, was pretty easy to install, had to drill all 4 holes in the frame for the mounts though. I thought at least one set of holes was already factory pre-drilled. I'm about ready to start working on the body! good times!

Were you able to move the engine forward at all with the CPP engine mounts?
Nice looking build. |

Re: Finally my build thread is here! Lots of pics!
This is a great build. Keep up the good work.
I pick up the keys to my new shop on Friday and hopefully can get my build started in the next couple of weeks. Your build is certainly an inspiration.

Re: Finally my build thread is here! Lots of pics!
Duuuuuuuuuude this is looking f'in KILLER! I love the wheels and the general detail work all around. I hope to be able to put half as much detail into my build when I start it as you have on yours.
Any idea what kind of color scheme you're going to go with on the truck?

Anyway, I think I am going to be going with a deep candy apple red paint, a pretty dark red. With lots of black, probably do the bumper and grill in a black or matte black.. It's gonna be sweet!

Re: Finally my build thread is here! Lots of pics!
I was at a local "car show" (I use the term VERY loosely) and saw a guy who had a rice burner painted a beautiful red. I asked what color it was and he said "Candy blood red" ... if you're looking into a dark candy red, something to consider.

Re: Finally my build thread is here! Lots of pics!
Very nice and thanks for all the pics of the headers. I'm running the same engine mounts and have yet to order my headers. I want to run the shorties 69646 on mine. Again very nice progress and pics.

Re: Finally my build thread is here! Lots of pics!
Well, after a way to long pause in the build, I ordered a complete set of stainless steel pre-bent brake lines from http://www.finelinesinc.com today. I did a lot research between them and inline tube and classic tube. Fine Lines seemed to be the best bet as far as fit, price and customer service. I should get the lines a about 2 weeks or so as they actually have to make (bend) them up and ship 'em out. If they don't work out as planned, I'll just get some plain old steel lines and bend them up my self.
I also started running my fuel line from the tank to the fuel pump, got some black braided nylon 1/2" hose from Summit (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-240815/) and some ends in the other day. I'll try to get some pics this weekend of the fuel line. I need to find some nice clips to mount the brake/fuel lines to the frame. Money seems tighter than ever, but I want to make some progress!! It's killing me how long this build is taking! I want to drive the truck again!
