Rear frame with cross members removed:
 Filling in all the holes that were in the side of the bed. This truck used to be a city/county/ or school district truck:  Custom trailing arms finally all welded up and smoothed out:    Chevrolet section of old tailgate. (we will be incorporating this into the new sheet metal bed:

Since the motor is out getting rebuilt, and all cleaned up, time to start cleaning and servicing the trans. Still needs a few coats of silver paint and clear:
 Fuel cell mock-up:  Fabricated, removable rear cross member:   Lots of manual labor and attention to detail was put into the frame. Grinded off all the pop rivets, and filled in and ground smooth all the holes. Also stich welded all the cross members inside the frame rails before boxing in.    Drilled a few holes in the cab mounts to go along with the theme. (kind of ironic considering I spent the better part of the morning welding literally a hundred holes up)  New floor for bed:

Thanks for all the positive response fella's! I'm currently finishing up the frame right now, and its off to powder coating tomorrow.

Hey guys, I appreciate the positve comments.
quick update: I damn near worked through the night. Stopped working at around 4:30 am, and got back here to the shop around 7:45. bottom line is I made a commitment to the customer that the frame would make it to powder coating today, so I will make sure it does. I'll post up pics of the frame before we send it off. Its coming out great! Looks pretty sweet! |

quick update, pics to follow in the next hour.
Frame has been finished, and is at the powder coater! I can't even tell you guys how much time and effort went into getting the frame totally smooth and boxed in, and cleaned up. The entire frame was boxed in with dimpled plates. Every hole thats not needed was filled in and ground smooth. Every rivet was smoothed off. Every transition between panels, brackets, crossmembers, ect. has been welded up, and smoothed into each other. The cab is back from blasting, and now that I can see what the metal looks like under all the layers of paint, rust, and bondo, well I have alot of work to do to say the least. This week is going to be nothing but metal work on the cab. Need to patch up all the rusted out areas, smooth the body lines and roof drip, shave the door jambs, and get suicide door hinges installed, new rockers going in, and the tedious work of getting that 55 chevy dash to fit into the cab and make transition panels to mold to the front part of the door panels to meet up with it. |

I for one am just curious as to how your gonna run the exhaust as you dimpled the carrier bearing cross member you could have dimpled both sides and ran the exhaust through. The frame looks killer was just wondering?
