Re: blazer roll bar and roll cage pics please
[QUOTE=Monte Carlo Man;3832771]
But I also reminded him of the safety factor. Unless the bars are welded to a steel pad, welded to the frame of the vehicle, the roll bar does absolutely nothing to protect the occupants in a roll over. /[QUOTE] I disagree... There are issues with welding the cage directly to the frame. The body is not, for good reason. If you insist at least figure out a way to attach it to the frame using bushings. It would be hard to preserve the stock look. The seat/seatbelts are not, if the body is that weak what good is it if the cage holds up but the body that you are strapped to does not? A well built cage attached to the body will work fine for 99% of our blazers. consider attaching it using plates to spread the energy over a larger area, consider attaching it in addtional locations (IE the bed floor & the bedsides) you get the idea. I do know a bit about this, heres a pic of the truck I helped my brother build to race in WSORR (I know, I know... but it's powered by a Chevy )

Re: blazer roll bar and roll cage pics please
we are going to have a thick steel plate run from side to side with the roll bars welded to it, then bolt the plate to the frame. when i carpet the floor i will cover the plate. it should work. man looking at the roll over pics are a little scary.

Re: blazer roll bar and roll cage pics please
The point of putting them up is that these are all stock Jeep roll bars, fairly thin wall thickness tubing only attached to the body and they hold up fine in some pretty serious accidents.
if you want to attach your plate to the frame I would recommend using some type of bushing. Or better yet just tie it to a body mount. There isn't much benefit in going with an overly thick plate, more importantly use gussets. Even small gussets will multiply the strength of the cage. Here are some cool ones... http://bluetorchfab.com/store/index....ath=58&&page=1 Dustin

Re: blazer roll bar and roll cage pics please
It's mounted with plates, so not a real cage...
