Re: My 76
Well, didnt get nothing done this past weekend on my truck. My boss is a fabricator, so he is making me a new floor pan for the passenger side. Started to put new rear brake pads on last night and found out that either autozone sold me the wrong part( doubtful cause I looked it up myself and got it myself) or the first owner changed out the rear axle. My dad is suppose to figure it out today since Im in school right now. But that is about all, should have some more stuff done this weekend.

Re: My 76
Finally got some brakes agian. It was to the point that if I was in rocks or on a wet road, the front tires would lock up and slide while the back kept spinin. Me and my dad replaced the pads and bled the brakes. Now my truck actually stops instead of kinda slows down

Re: My 76
Well, got new bleeders for my front brakes. Bled them and got a nice solid pedal again. But, my rear end went out on me. So I picked up another rear end from a friend just now. So tomorrow starts the surgery to get the truck going agian.

Re: My 76
Alright, the long awaited summer is almost here. I got three more exams to take and I am done. So this weekend, Im gonna start on cleaning up the engine bay, and finishing the front of my truck completely. But I got a question that is holding me up right now. When I shaved my marker lights, I just pushed the bulb and wiring through the hole. Now I want to get rid of it. So do I just cut it out or what?

Re: My 76
If it were me id follow them back to where the plug in or something, but yeah I guess you could cut em off, may leave 1 someplace and eventually think of something cool to make use of it for

Re: My 76
Yeah, you can just cut the wires and maybe tape them up (not touching each other). You could also remove the bulb and tape up the socket, if you don't want to ruin the wiring harnwss.
Good luck with your exams. Woo hoo, summertime!

Re: My 76
Aint that hard, just make you a filler piece and weld it in. But I got another question now too, how hard is it to re-align fenders if I were to take mine off? There already out of alignment.

Re: My 76
Its taking me awhile, I have no job now(long story), so cash flow slows me down big time. But I am going to apply at some places this coming week so we will see. After I get the front end of the truck done, I will get the interior complete:new floor pans, insulation, carpet, paint, radio, gauges, and seat. Then it will be on to getting the cab body work done. Then to the bed. But I gotta get a job first, but until then, I will do what I can with what I got.

Re: My 76
Well, I hope to have the fender back on by Saturday, and the door will be on when ever I take the time to pull all the window and lock stuff out of my door to put in the new one.

Re: My 76
Well, time I actually up-date this thing with a true up-date. But first Im going to explain the order of things Im doing. 1st is get the new exhaust in there and get it all welded up, I dont need any exhaust leaks. 2nd on the list is do the body work on the hood and the fender. Fix some of the dents and what not. 3rd and final on the list is to get all new weather striping for the new doors and pull all the guts outta my doors to put in the new ones. Which leads me to a couple of questions.
1.Where is the best place to buy all the weather striping and seals for the doors? Does it all come in one kit? 2.Does anyone have a step-by-step guide on swapping door components? The guy that gave me the doors owns a professional body shop. He told me that if I cant get the doors back together, just give him a call and he will get one of his guys to do it. And finally, the actual up-date on all this. I got most of the exhaust ran and tack welded into place. I jsut got to grind everything down and finish welding the pipes all the way around. Lucky for me, I got two professional welders as cousins. But, I did get another video of the exhaust, its much quieter now.

Re: My 76
Truck's lookin' good!
Best to hang your new door shell(s) first, align to cab and then fit fender(s).

Re: My 76
Should I put all the window tracks and door locks and stuff in them first, then hang them up?

Re: My 76
No, it's just easier to hang the doors when they are empty.

Re: My 76
Alrighty, got the pipes complete. Truck has a nice deep rumble to it now. Started sanding the back of the cab down last night. Found out some more bondo hidden rust spots. All in the cab corners, so I ordered new corners. I also took the back glass out with the help of my dad. We didnt tear the seal and its still really tight, could I just re-use this seal?
