I told them no thanks and called my insurance company and told them what happened and they said they would pay for the damage and would work it out with the other insurance company. The other insurance was not happy about it and did not want me to get my insurance involved but that is why I pay them for full coverage on my truck. My insurance sent out a adjuster and wrote me a check for the damages right there. I never heard from the other insurance again and not sure what happened between them and my insurance. I guess the bottom line is that if you have full coverage on your truck you should let your insurance deal with the other company, it was not your fault and you should not have to deal with it.
I'm with you on this. I have full coverage on my 71 K20. Its a decent truck, but definatly not even close to restored. My friends don't understand why I don't run with the minimums or just liability...This thread is why.

Gosh, I'm shocked. An insurance company doesn't want to accept responsibility and cover damages, especially Geico.

What a crock, that's typical insurance company behavior deny, deny, deny. Some of you guys stating that Geico is a good company must not work in the Paint and Body business. Geico is one of the sorriest insurance companies out there so best of luck to you, I hope it works out.

Same here. Stated value, collision and comp. I also have it on my 99 S-10 and 00 Z71. I get asked the same Q as well. I pay $1,200/yr for all of it. With only liability it would still be about $850/yr. I like the extra piece of mind, especially in SC, where have a sickeningly high % of uninsured drivers.

To the OP: Glad to see your insurance company is going to take care of you

Had something similar happen along time ago -- amazing how much the person at fault gets involved when the insurance company comes after them!
